To Whom It May Concern,

I have had the pleasure of working with Iolanda at Sir William Osler public school in my grade
two classroom for five weeks. It is obvious that Iolanda has developed a strong commitment to
the students in this grade 2 class in the short amount of time that she has been teaching them.
In her daily lesson plans she creates student-centered equitable tasks that address the diversity
among the students in a fair and transparent way. She encourages student involvement
through hands on activities that engage all students, including those with special education and
ELL needs. Daily, Iolanda is a role model for the joy of learning.
She always has a smile on her face and she shares her love of learning with the
students through her well thought out interactive lesson plans. She models and promotes
respectful behaviour and polite student interactions at all times. Iolanda's lessons are carefully
planned considering the students' different learning styles and interests. Her lessons also relate
to the co-created Learning Goals and Success Criteria that have been deconstructed from the
curriculum expectations. Through the exposure of higher level questioning and the variety of
tasks available for students to practise a skill, Iolanda provides challenges for students in their
individual pursuits of excellence!
Iolanda demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter and curriculum expectations. In
all of her lessons she consistently uses the curriculum expectations as the foundation from
which she creates her Learning Goals and Success Criteria for each task. Since the first week of
Iolanda's placement she took the initiative to become an interactive member of the primary and
junior Dance Club. She has also gone out of her way to collaborate with another Teacher
Candidate at our school. This type of leadership and inclusion fosters collaboration among
colleagues in our school community where staff and students are both provided with the
opportunity to learn with and from each other through trial and inquiry. In her leadership role
she made sure that she acknowledged every students' effort and celebrated each students'
success.
Iolanda responds well to constructive feedback and is very reflective in her teaching
practise. She takes the time to assess each student to check for understanding and her followup lessons always address concepts or skills that will support students to bridge their learning.
Iolanda is a natural when in comes to cross-curricular planning. She takes every opportunity to
engage in learning both individually and collaboratively. Ms. Chiodo was a great addition to our
classroom. It is with great pleasure that I regard Iolanda as a future educator. She would be an
a great colleague, mentor, and teacher in any school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Becky Kramer
