Constructing a Simple Circuit

I. INTRODUCTION
a. Definition and Purpose of the Process. A simple circuit is an electrical device that
provides a path for electrical current to flow. It consists of three main elements: a)
the voltage source, b) the load, c) and the conductive path. The voltage source is the
part of the circuit which causes current to flow. It is typically a battery or electrical
outlet. The load is the part of the circuit which consumes power. It represents the
actual work done by the circuit, and can be as simple as a single light bulb. The
conductive path is the part of the circuit that provides a route through which current
flows. In this case, the wire is the conductive path. This route begins at the voltage
source, travels through the load, and then returns to the voltage source. This path must
form a loop from the negative side of the voltage source to the positive side of the
voltage source to let electricity flow.
b. Equipment. The equipment needed for constructing a simple circuit are the dry cell
batteries, the wires, the bulb holder and the bulb.
c. Sequences of the Process. The major steps in constructing a simple circuit are
preparing the bulb and other materials, screwing the bulb into the bulb holder,
removing an inch of wire covering from each end of the wires, and connecting the
wires to the dry cell battery and the bulb holder.
II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS
1. Preparing the bulb and other materials. The preparation of the necessary
materials is the first step that needs to be done. It is to ensure that everything that
is required is available and ready to be used. The usage of two wires of different
colors makes this process easier.
2.

Screwing the bulb into the bulb holder. The screwing of the bulb into the bulb
holder is the process that requires the use of a screwdriver. Make sure that the
bulb is secured firmly.
3. Removing an inch of wire covering from each end of the wires. The end
coverings of the wires must be removed so that it can conduct electricity. To do
this, the electrician strips off an inch of the covering using a pair of scissors or a
wire stripper.
4. Connecting the wires to the dry cell battery and the bulb holder. Generally, the
red wire is used to connect to the positive end, while the black is connected to the
negative end.

III. CONCLUSION
A simple circuit is an electrical device through which current can travel. It contains the
minimum things needed to have a functioning electric circuit. The process of constructing a
simple circuit begins with the preparation of the necessary materials. Then, screw the light bulb
into the bulb holder and make sure that the bulb is secured tightly. Next, remove an inch of wire
covering each end of the wires to conduct electricity. Lastly, connect the wires to the dry cell
battery and the bulb holder. The red wire must be connected to the positive end and the black
wire to the negative end. Finally, watch the bulb light up.
