Jogan Beach is a unique and
beautiful beach, situated at the western
part of Siung Beach, Yogyakarta. It has
a waterfall with water coming from a
spring in the karst hills which falls into
the sea right at the shoreline. The name
jogan is derived from the word
grojogan which mean waterfall in
Javanese.
Although Jogan Beach is not as
popular as Siung Beach, the exotic
freshwater which meets the salt water of

Tepus bus station, visitors rent an ojek
(motorcycle taxi) to reach Jogan Beach.

Green sea turtles are the largest
hardshell sea turtles. They grow up to
1.5metre (5ft) in length and weigh over
300kg. They inhabit tropical and
subtropical coastal waters around the
world. They feed on crabs, jellyfish, and

eating sea grasses and algae.
They have a wide, smooth and
brownish carapace, yellow underside of

are able to hold their breath for hours at

where they were born. Female turtles

lay 100-200 eggs at a time and leave
them alone for 2 months before they
hatch. One the baby turtles hatch, they
crawl to the water, to avoid a multitude
of predators, including birds crabs.

animals. They are hunted by humans
and threatened by destruction of nesting
