The Goshorns Step by Step

August 2016
Were So Blessed
We started off the month with Louise as a
house guest. She a missionary who retired from Peru
earlier in the year. It was such a blessing having her
with us for a couple weeks. After Louise left we had
another guest from Lima, Tatiana. We met her a
couple years ago while in Lima and shes developed a
heart for the Lord. We also had a young man from
England at our house at the same time. They spent a
week helping us with the kids programs. This was a
great time for them to visit because our Sunday
program averaged between 80 to 104 kids during this
time. We saw many new kids along with their parents.
A group of parents asked why we do this for the kids
and I replied that we love Jesus and thats what we do.
They are now very interested in knowing more.
After all the house guests left, Matthew and I
drove to the Jungle to check on some things. We had
to hurry back so we could go to Lima to pick up a team
from Crestwood UMC. We also picked up Romina, who
we also met a couple years ago in Lima. She returned
with us so she could help translate for the team and
see our ministry. We were truly blessed to have had
such great helpers.

The

The Crestwood team was awesome. They

helped supply material and construct a church in a
very poor area of Huancayo. They also had kids
club every day, helped with the feeding programs,
put on a festival at the orphanage and built many
relationships. To finish the month we traveled to
Lima with the team so we could see them off along
with Matthew. It was a huge help having Matthew
in Peru for a few months.
We cant begin to tell you how blessed we
feel to have had so many people wanting to lend a
hand in Gods work. It seems very quiet in the
house now, but Im sure that it wont stay this way.
If you're interested in visiting us in Peru, we
would love to have you, our door is always open:)

We humbly thank you for your continued

prayers and financial support. If you havent
yet, we ask that you would prayerfully
consider financially supporting this ministry in
Peru. Without more financial partners this
ministry can not continue to grow. We love
you all and thank you for being part of Gods
work in Peru.

Walking in their shoes

I know this may sound a little odd, but

I've been noticing kids shoes a lot lately.

Children come to our programs with shoes
that we would have thrown away two
hand-me-downs ago. My feet would be in
nothing but pain if I had to wear shoes like
these. I know that a lot of them are lucky
just to have something on their feet,
especially when they cant buy food. They
never complain about what they have or
dont have. These feet are so young and yet
theyve walked places most of us cant
imagine or want to. I also notice how they
serve and help one another. I think of Jesus
when He washed the feet of the disciples.
How dirty and dusty their feet must have
been from walking in sandals on the filthy
roads of Palestine.

John 13:4-5 so he got up from the meal, took

off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel
around his waist. After that, he poured water
into a basin and began to wash his disciples
feet, drying them with the towel that was
wrapped around him.
Jesus gave us the example to live by and
that is to be servants. He Himself was a servant
and our goal is to serve. Our hope is that by
serving, people will experience the cleansing of
salvation. As His followers, we are to emulate
Him, serving one another in lowliness of heart
and mind, trying to build one another up in
humility and love. When we have that servants
heart, the Lord promised, we will be blessed.
John 13:16-17 Very truly I tell you, no
servant is greater than his master, nor is a
messenger greater than the one who sent him.
Now that you know these things, you will be
blessed if you do them.
