    The Marcoola Community Group is presenting a talk titled "Fire in Our Landscape" on August 18th from 7-8:30pm at the Marcoola Surf Club. The talk will feature Kerry Jones discussing traditional Kabi Kabi fire management, Omar Bakhach from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service discussing their approach to controlled burns in Mt Coolum National Park, and Angus Collins presenting on his ground parrot research. They will discuss using fire to promote ecological diversity and lessons learned about fire management in densely populated areas.

    Marcoola Surf Club upstairs
    Living beside the Mt Coolum National Park, you would be aware of controlled burns
    that are conducted from time to time. This talk will discuss the approach behind
    these burns to promote ecological diversity, and the lessons being collectively learnt
    about the role of fire in managing our landscape, especially in a densely settled area.
    We will hear from long-time QPWS Senior Ranger Omar Bakhach, Kabi Kabi man
    Kerry Jones and researcher Angus Collins in this extremely interesting fire forum.
