SMALLER
JET FLIES
FUTURE
ROBYN IRONSIDE
SINGLE-aisle planes that can
fly longer distances on less
fuel are the way of the future
according to the worlds
biggest aircraft manufacturer
Boeing.
Marketing vice-president
Randy Tinseth predicted
seven out of 10 planes sold in
the next 20 years would be
models that seat between 90
and 200 people.
The forecast is not good
news for Airbuss flagship
A380, which Mr Tinseth said
was too big and too
expensive to meet airlines
needs in the years ahead.
He said orders for their
new-generation 737 the
single-aisle 737 MAX had
already made it the bestselling plane Boeing had ever
brought to the market.
Weve had 3000 orders
from 62 customers, and when
it flew (for the first time) last
month, it had more
customers than any other
aeroplane, Mr Tinseth said.
Its about 14 per cent
more fuel-efficient than the
737-8s, 40 per cent quieter
and were able to add 500
nautical miles to the
maximum range (about the
distance from Sydney to
Launceston, or Canberra to
Brisbane).

A CLYDE couple are set to

rake in the millions with the
sale of a faded little weatherboard house on a parcel of land
out on the fringe of Melbournes growth corridor.
Paul and Sandy Rasmussen
are selling Aaron Park their
home as well as a popular
equestrian centre on 46.5ha of
land with an asking price of
$3 million.
The Rasmussens paid just
$340,000 for 390 Muddy
Gates Lane back in 1990.
But now Mr Rasmussen, 67,
said they wanted to give up the
day-to-day responsibilities of
the horse riding centre so they
could try new things.
One of the things he is most

BENN DORRINGTON
looking forward to is heading
to Tamworth, NSW, to watch
his wife perform as a country
music singer.
You dont imagine saying
this is going to be worth millions one day, he said.
We knew it would improve
in value and thats the only
thing we went with whatever we put in, we should get
back. And now its time for us
to move on and do something
different.
They originally bought
26.5ha, but years later bought a
neighbouring 20ha.
The property includes their
modest two-bedroom house,

which is largely in its original

state. There is also a separate
two-bedroom cottage, a floodlit equestrian arena with a
bunkhouse, stables and sheds.
Mr Rasmussen said they
built the equestrian facilities
from the ground up.
Selling agent Matt Koster,
of Alex Scott & Staff, said the
land was green wedge, but it
was only 1.7km from the urban
growth boundary.
He said the property was attracting a healthy amount of
interest from domestic and
international buyers.
Mr Koster said a 52ha property on Manks Rd in Clyde
sold last year for $2.2 million.

a bizarre cache of items such
as a slippery when frosty

Police have accused Mr
Baker of stalking and
harassing a woman, and
using a carriage service to

send her messages between

June and October last year.
He is also accused of
