Mission:

It is the mission of the Office of Civil Rights and

Diversity (OCRD) to provide leadership and guidance on all civil rights,

equal employment opportunity (EEO) and diversity matters; and to address
issues of discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment, in
the recruitment/employment of staff and in the recruitment/service of
Volunteers/Trainees. OCRD encourages management, employees, and
Volunteers to value diversity in order to build and maintain a culture that
values inclusion of all employees and Volunteers. OCRD ensures that
EEO principles and diversity management initiatives are fully integrated into
the Human Resources and organizational data systems.

Reasonable Accommodations
A reasonable accommodation is any modification or adjustment to a job or
work environment that will enable a qualified applicant or employee with a
disability to participate in the application process or to perform the essential
functions of the job.
Per federal law, Peace Corps must provide a reasonable accommodation to
a qualified individual (employee or applicant) with a disability unless it
proves to be an undue hardship.
For further information, please contact OCRD directly.

Directors statement
As Director, I want to affirm to all Peace Corps employees and
Volunteers that no person will be denied equal opportunity under
applicable laws for employment or Volunteer service opportunities
because of his or her race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40
or over), disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender
expression, marital status, parental status, political affiliation, union
membership, genetic information, or history of participation in the
EEO process, grievance procedure, or any authorized complaint
procedure.
The Peace Corps is both a federal agency and a vehicle through
which American citizens offer needed assistance to people around the
world and, in doing so, promote greater cross-cultural understanding
between Americans and the people of our host countries. The
fulfillment of the Peace Corps mission to foster greater
understanding among the worlds citizens requires that we adhere to
the highest standards with respect to equal employment opportunity
for all Volunteers, employees, and applicants. Discrimination based
on factors that have no bearing on a persons ability to serve and
perform his or her duties is not permitted and will not be tolerated.

EMPLOYEE
RESOURCE GROUPS
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
are grassroots groups formed by
employees around a common area
of interest such as race, national
origin, gender, sexual orientation,
disability, education, veterans
status, career track, etc.
The Office of Civil Rights and
Diversity (OCRD) links ERGs with
the Agencys senior management
and other relevant parties. ERGs
may exist outside of the OCRD
purview, however, those who
petition OCRD for approval must
champion for diversity and inclusion.
For further information, please
contact OCRD directly.
