Structured Study Center

Overview:
Structured study centers provide students with the opportunity and time to complete classroom
assignments or school projects. Students typically work on their own, with the help of instructor. Course
content may include study skills and individual tutorials; communication skills; personal assessment and
awareness activities; speaker presentations; and small group seminars.

Course Goals:
Allow access to school resources and time for student work completion
Facilitate frequent grade/course checks with students

Course Materials:
Writing Utensil
Student Handbook/Planner
Chromebook
Homework assignments from other classes
Any other materials needed to complete homework

Expectations:
Students are expected to:
Come prepared each day
Be respectful of the learning environment for themselves and fellow students
Be active and willing participants in their study routine
Complete daily agenda and weekly grade check

Grading:
Grades will be based on participation, attendance, daily agenda, and bringing materials to class each day.
Students will have the opportunity for earning 4 points per day:
Point 1 - Being present and on time to class
Point 2 - Having all materials needed
Point 3 - Completing the Daily Agenda
Point 4 - On-task Behavior (positive and productive work)
Students will also receive 4 points weekly for completing a grade check form and conferencing about
grades. This means that students will earn 20 points per week (4 points per day for four days of class and
4 point for grade check).
Disclaimer:
Structured Study Center is a course designed to help students stay on target for a successful year of
academic achievement. It is an elective credit. As a result, students who do not utilize the course and/or
are frequently off task will be removed at the semester.
