This Week in School
Math- Estimation and rounding skills. Rounding
to the nearest ten and hundred with 2, 3, and 4
digit numbers.
Reading- C.A.F.E Strategies for Reading
Comprehension. How to make sense of what
you are reading.
Writing- Zooming-in to a small moment and
writing with details that matter.
Grammar: Adjectives, identifying within
sentences and using adjectives in brand new
sentences.
Science: Magnets: Identify magnetic and
nonmagnetic items. Identify the North and
South Pole on magnets
Social Studies: Review Latitude, Longitude
and Compass Rose. Introduce U.S. Mountain
Ranges: Appalachian and Rocky.

Connections

Students will have P.E. one day every week. Make sure
your child is dressed appropriately for gym class on
assigned day, every week.
Monday: Goss
Tuesday - Souther
Thursday - Wingo
Friday - Schmus

Snack Time - Friendly Reminder

Please send your child with a water bottle


every day along with a healthy snack. No
Gatorade, juice, tea or soda!

Homework

Written Assignments-all due by Friday


Math Math Sheet - one page of the skills
we are working on each week (Due Friday)
Spelling Homework will begin September 6th, a
sheet explaining ways to practice is in the
T.E.A.M. Binder. New words will be in the agenda
each Monday. Spelling tests will be given each
Friday.
RAH Log (Read at Home)-Complete RAH log each
night Monday through Thursday, recommendation is
15-20 minutes. Record the books read on RAH Log in
T.E.A.M. Binder.
MAH (Math at Home)-Initial agenda, complete math
facts practice each night Monday through Thursday,
recommendation is 5-10 minutes math facts practice.
Students will take a timed math facts test each day
and must get all problems correct in order to move on
to the next set. We will begin the timed math facts
tests next Monday, August 15th. They will keep the
timed test in their homework notebook and will
practice their facts nightly. There is a sheet located
in T.E.A.M. Binder that gives several ways for
students to practice.
