Local AT&T Pioneer Volunteers to Paint Mural of United

States on Playground at Chavez Elementary in Madison
MADISON, Monday, August 15, 2016 Children will be able to take a giant leap across the United States as
they play on the playground at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Madison this fall, thanks to local volunteers.
The AT&T Pioneers will paint a 20-foot by 30-foot mural of the United States on Chavez Elementarys playground
as part of a volunteer community service project on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The project will allow teachers to use the playground to teach geography through creative play. Students will also
be able to enjoy new playground equipment this fall, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the PTO and volunteers.
We are very excited for our students to enjoy their new playground equipment and map this fall, said Principal
Linda Allen. We are very grateful to our PTO and volunteers like the AT&T Pioneers who have made these new
additions to our playground possible.
The AT&T Pioneers are providing paints and supplies for the map project. The Pioneers are a local organization
of AT&T employees and retirees who are dedicated to volunteering their time to various community causes.
This special project will encourage creative play and help students learn more about the United States and its
geography, said State Representative Lisa Subeck. Its inspiring to see local volunteers helping to enhance our
community by giving back.
