PC WORLD was originally known as SOFT WORLD, establish 1995, renamed


as PC WORLD formally in 1997, from only deal in the computer software in early
state, nowadays develop into the computer retailer one-stop service, succeed in
buildup PC WORLD brand in the computer market among the competitor. Obtain
ISO : 9001 authentication since 2006 , achieve 7th SME small and medium
enterprise's award in 2008, The 8th the Asia Pacific International Enterprise's
Excellent Award- Excellence Service Quality Award in 2009, TOP brands, SME 100
Awards and 1957 Malaysian Independences Awards Efficiency Enterprise.

In initial stage, because of some factors, such as computer retail price


competition and the vicious circle of the market, this has influenced the development
of the trade, indirectly involved the operation of enterprises. PC WORLD not
surrender of all this causes, Experienced a period of time of effort and exploration,
seeking change, integration of Chinese and Western experiences and insights finally
break through difficult times in 2004, successfully established a local computer store
brand, and plans to embark on the franchise track.

The company has a group of young, professional, highly qualified management


and technical personnel, set up with rich experience and innovative ideas in modern
enterprise group. Introduce research and develop, digest and absorb advanced and
ripe management software engineering and products both at local and nation to
move forward position to Hi-Tech field generation, and try hard to offer to the masses
of users as soon as possible.

Companies adhere to the service guide, talent-driven, innovation, energy,

3.0 CURRENT SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

PC WORLD Sdn. Bhd. located in Merlimau, Melaka. This shop has several franchise that
sold different item such as computer, laptop, software, hardware and pc accessories. PC
World plans to use a database system to support its operations. The database system can
manage the record of product from suppliers, company-maintaining organizations and more
systematic. Given below are the screnarios at the company:
1.

For a product, its name, serial number and addresss product should be recorded.

A staff can serves many customers and a customer can be served by one staff.1:M

A product can be supply by many suppliers and one supplier can supply one
product.1:M

4.

Each product can be bought by many customers and one customer can buys many
products.M:N

Customers details such as IC number, phone number and name need to be kept by the
database system.

4.0 Current Problem Statements

Data inconsistency exists when conflicting versions of the same data appear in
different places. For example, when an item had been bought by customer, the
information need to be update on the file.

Complex system administration. It becomes more difficult as the number of files in


the system expands. Even a simple file system with a few files requires creating
and maintaining several file management . For example, when the number of files
in the Pc World system increase, it becomes more complex to find an information.

Difficult to make an analysis on data. Analyzing data become complicated


because it is hard to find the information in file system. For example, the manager
facing difficult time to calculate sales and profit.

Lack of security of company information. Company information like company


revenue is easy to access which people can sabotage the company.

5.0 Proposed Database Objectives


The DBMS makes updating data easier due to easy to access the data in the database
system.
The DBMS can make analzing data faster because DBMS can access the data fast
even many data that need to access.
The DBMS makes the system more systematic. All the data save in database with easy
to add, modify, delete record and to generate reports. DBMS use less space than the file
system.
The DBMS should creates a security system that enforces user security and data
privacy. Security rules determine which users can access the database, which data
items each user can access, and which data operations the user can perform.
