Outcome

Bytheendofthisunitstudentswillbeabletoidentify,describe,andexemplifythe
6traitsofwriting,aswellasothernecessaryelementsthatmakeupasuccessful
pieceofwritinginanarrative,informational,andargumentativecontext.Students
willusethewritingprocessandtheirknowledgeofthe6traitstoconstruct
multiplepiecesofwritingforavarietyofpurposes,includingafinal,opinionbased
pieceofwriting.

Introduction

Learninghowtowriteandwritewellisoneofthemostimportantskillsyouwill
evercometodevelop.Thistermwewillbedoingawritingworkshopwithafocus
onthe6traitsofwriting.Youwillcometoknowwhatthese6traitsofwriting
actuallyareandwillbeabletoexemplifythemthroughnumerouspiecesall
throughoutthetermso,yes,youwillbewritingalot.But,thebestpartis,wewill
onlybefocusingononetraitatatimesoastoreallyhelpyoubecomebetter
writersineachindividualaspectbeforemovingontoapieceofwritingthatinvolves
assessingmultipletraitsatatime.

AsImentioned,wewillbetakingpartinamultitudeofwritingassignmentsthroughouttheterm,butnottoworry,Iwillmake
themasinterestingandasfunaspossible.Foryourfinalproject/paperyouwillbewritinganopinionpieceonwhatitmeansto
growup.Thisisanimportantstartingpointthematically,asthisyearalotoftheliteraturewewillencounterwillcontainthisvery
theme.

So,Iencourageeveryonetogivewritingandimprovingtheirwritingabilitytheirbestshot!Ifyouputforthagenuineeffort,youwill
yieldimpressiveresults.
