Title
What is the title of the instruction?

Kindergarten Number Recognition and Counting Module

Audience
Who are the learners for the instruction? What are the characteristics of the learners (age, gender,
race, ethnicity, exceptionalities (disabilities or giftedness), developmental levels, culture,
language, interests, learning styles, or skill levels)?

Kindergarten students between five and six years old. This group of 23 students will
consist of 10 males and 13 females. There are 13 Caucasian students, 7 Hispanic students
and 3 African American students. Most of the students function on the same ability level
with the exception of two gifted students and three low achieving students. The students
are from a small community with various cultures, values and socio economic
backgrounds. A majority of the students are visual learners and a smaller portion of the
students are tactile learners.

Content Area
What is the content area/subject matter for the instruction?

Kindergarten Math

Standards
What standards will be addressed in the instruction?

Math Georgia Standards of Excellence Kindergarten Common Core

Represent number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of
no objects).

Student Learning Objectives

What will students be able to do when they complete the instruction?

Recognize the numbers 0-20 and count objects 0-20

Prerequisites
What prerequisite skills or knowledge are needed by the learner to be successful in the learning
experience?

Students will need to be able to maneuver the mouse on a computer or be able to operate
a tablet.

Time Needed
Approximately how much time will be needed for students to complete the learning experience?

Four to six weeks depending on the studnet. Each module should take approximately one
week to complete, if remediation is not necessary.

Module 1: Numbers 1-5

Module 2: Numbers 6-10

Module 3: Numbers 11-15

Module 4: Number 16-20

Content
What instructional content will be necessary for students to learn? What will the content look
like?

The students will learn how to count objects and recognize number 0-20. The students
will not need any prior knowledge for this instructional activity. The content will consist
of Power Points, online interactive games and videos.

Activities

What will students do as they participate in the learning experience?

As the students participate in the learning experience they will watch Power Points and
short video clips. They will interact with online games to reinforce the concept as well.

Multimedia Resources
What multimedia resources will assist the learners in completing the instruction (e.g., pictures,
drawings, video, audio, links to online resources, links to online technology tools, online
simulations, other)?

In order to assist the learners in completing the instruction, there will be images, videos,
audio and links to the online interactive games as part of this instructional design.

Use of Technology
What technology will be used other than the multimedia authoring software (Udutu)?

In addition to the multimedia authoring software, there will be PowerPoints, video clips
and online interactive games. This program will be accessed from a computer or tablet
for independent practice or an interactive whiteboard for small or whole group lessons.

Accessibility
What will be done to accommodate learners with disabilities?

A large portion of the program and instruction will be designed with large, black text with
a white background for easy readability. There will be appropriate spacing between text
and images as well. In order to make the program easier to manipulate there will be large
icons to support the students fine motor skills. There will be an equal amount of text and
visual images in order to support the needs of these emergent readers. Additionally, the
program will have a consistent layout to provide structure for the young students.

Learner Support

What will be done to provide learner support? How will students know how to seek help when
needed?

In order to provide learner support there will be a teacher or paraprofessional assisting a

small group of six students during the length of their groups lesson. The teacher will be
able to identify the needs of the students during the small groups. If a student does not
master a topic with three attempts, they will notify the teacher or the teacher will check
the progress of the students daily. At this point, the teacher will provide the students with
a remediation lesson or link on the module topic until mastery.

Assessment
What will be done to assess student learning? What will students actually do to show they have
learned?

The assessment either will be an individual assessment online or provided by the teacher
upon completion of each module. The students will be required to count objects, read
and write the numbers from each module.
