How to use T-money

Bus
1. Upon boarding the bus, place a T-money card on the sensor
bearing the T-money logo located at the front of the bus until it
beeps. The sensor will display the amount charged on the top and
the remaining balance at the bottom.
2. Before getting off the bus, place the T-money card on the sensor
located at the back of the bus until it beeps. It will display any
additional charges, which are levied by distance traveled, and can
now be used for free transfers within a specific time limit.
Subway
Place a T-money card on the sensor bearing the T-money logo
located on top of each of the subway turnstiles until it beeps. The
sensor will display the amount charged on the top and the
remaining balance at the bottom. If you are transferring, the
amount charge may appear as "0" (zero).
2. Place the T-money card on the sensor until it beeps when exiting
through the turnstiles. It will display any additional charges, which
are levied by distance traveled, and can now be used for free
transfers within a specific time limit.
Tip.
1) If you don't tap your card on the sensors as you get off the bus or exit the subway,
you will be charged double the next time you use public transportation. You cannot
benefit from transfer discounts, either. So, make sure to tap your card at all times
when getting off the bus or exiting the subway!
2) You can transfers for free up to four times. Transfers are allowed inside the
subway system, so when you transfer from one subway line to another (after tapping
your card), transfer discounts do not apply. For buses, you can get free transfers
from one type of bus to another (blue bus, green bus, green village bus, yellow bus,
red bus, etc.). For example, Bus + subway or blue bus + green bus = free transfer /
Subway + subway = no free transfers allowed (free transfers apply on some subway
lines like Subway line 9 where transfer gates are situated outside).

Notes
Sungnyemun Gate is Koreas National Treasure
No. 1, and its unofficial name is Namdaemun
Gate. Sungnyemun Gate is the largest castle gate
stone structure with an arched entrance in the
middle. Theres a column on top of a platform,
raising the roof, distinguishing the upper stories
and lower stories of the building. A passageway
for traffic is located at the east and west ends of
the gate.
Different from the other gates, Sungnyemuns
tablet has its name written vertically.
When the first king of Joseon Dynasty, Lee SeongGye (reign 1335-1408), had constructed the
capital city, he believed that fire will reach to
Gyeongbokgung Palace as well as the capital city
as Mt. Gwanaksan of Seoul is shaped like fire
according to feng-shui principles. Sungnyemuns
name means fire, which is from the harmony of
the Five Elements and if written vertically, the
Chinese character fire looks as if it is providing
protection. This was Taejongs (1367-1422) first
son, Yangnyeongdaeguns (1394-1462) famous
writing.

On February 10, 2008, Sungnyemun was

destroyed by fire. After a 5-year reconstruction
work, the gate has been re-opened to the public
again as of May 4, 2013.
Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, exhibits
traditional and modern works of art by Korean
and international artists. The museum itself is just
as fascinating as the works of art on display,
since its three buildings were designed by the
internationally renowned architects, Mario Botta,
Jean Nouvel, and Rem Koolhaas.
MUSEUM 1 houses traditional Korean works of art,
such as calligraphy, paintings, ceramic arts, and
metal craftwork, while MUSEUM 2 displays
modern and contemporary art by both Korean
and foreign artists.
On Saturday and Sunday guided tours in English

Until it was restored in 2005, Cheonggyecheon
Stream existed only as a neglected watercourse
hidden by an overpass. Today, it has been
transformed into a haven of natural beauty amidst
the bustle of city life.
Narae Bridge, expressing a butterfly in flight, and
Gwanggyo Bridge, symbolizing the harmony of the
past and future, are just two of the more than
twenty beautiful bridges that cross the stream. The
Rhythmic Wall Stream, lined with fine marble,
sculptures, and Koreas 8th stone building,
Palseokdam, adorn the Cheonggyecheon Stream.
Cheonggyecheon Stream passes close to
Deoksugung Palace, Seoul Plaza, the Sejong Center,
Insa-dong Street, Changdeokgung Palace, and
Changgyeonggung Palace, allowing visitors to easily
visit major tourist sites after a leisurely stroll along
the stream.

of Seoul since it first opened to the public in 1980.

When the Gyeongchun Line, a double-tracked railway

line connecting Seoul and Chuncheon, opened on
December 20, 2010, it replaced the Mugunghwa train
that traveled this route for 70 years. Built on the site
where the train on the Gyeongchun Line stops,
Gangchon Rail Park is a popular tourist attraction
where visitors can pedal along old railroad tracks
while taking in the lovely Bukhangang River scenery
Opened on August, 2012, the rail park operates from
three stations: Gimyujeong Station, Gangchon Station,
and Gyeonggang Station. The distance between
Gimyujeong Station and Gangchon Station is
approximately 8km and the round-trip distance to
Gyeonggang Station is approximately 6km.

Shopping tips :
Clothes are cheaper in Dongdaemun (compared to Malaysia) and
you could haggle the price (in most of the shops). Just try your
luck!
Later when we walked into Young Plaza (next to AvenueL) in
Myeongdong - we saw a very stylish winter coat for 29,000 won
because they had SALE there. Darn!
Asking for discounts is not the Korean culture. So do not ask for
too much discounts for stuff as it will irritate the seller. Be
reasonable, and if you think the seller is okay then ask for more.
The most they can give (in my experience) is about 3,000 won
off the original price.

1)Busan Christmas Tree Festival kicks off on Nov 29
The Busan Christmas Tree Festival will illuminate multiple locations
in Busan, celebrating this years Christmas and the start of a new
year. Holiday ornaments will be set up in the major tourist areas in
Busan, including Busan Station, Gwangbok-ro streets and more
places listed below, for period of 37 days, starting on November
29, 2014.
Marking its 6th anniversary, the event has drawn many visitors
every year to see the array of delightful luminaries. Attractions like
a giant 18 meter-tall Christmas tree, a fountain decorated with
heart-shaped lights and a night tunnel will welcome visitors, under
this years theme of Unity & Delight: Christmas in Busan. The
highlight to remember will be a 1.2km stretch of promenade
connecting Gwangbok-ro to Gukje Market. An artificial snow show
lasting for 10 minutes at 7pm and 8pm each day from November
29 to December 31 will add to the Christmassy atmosphere. Other
