= Knit 2 stitches together
= Cable 6 Front - slip 3 sts to a cable needle, hold them to the front of the work, knit the next 3
off the left needle, then knit the 3 slipped sts off the holder.
= Cable 6 Back - slip 3 sts to a cable needle, hold them to the back of the work, knit the next 3
off the left needle, then knit the 3 slipped sts off the holder.
Note: Please read through the pattern first before you begin.
The Braid Brim is knit flat and the picked up stitches are along
the long side of the braid not at the ends. It is then folded over
the hood and tacked down at the end. When the braid is folded over the finished hood, you wont see any of the picked up
stitches since it overlaps the beginning of the hood pattern and
covers where the picked up stitches might show.
Start Braid Brim Pattern:
CO 15 sts
Row 1 (RS): Sl1, P2, K9, P2, K1
Row 2 (WS): Sl1, K2, P9, K2, P1
Row 3 (RS): Sl1, P2, C6B, K3, P2, K1
Row 4 (WS): Sl1, K2, P9, K2, P1
Row 5 (RS): Sl1, P2, K9, P2, K1
Row 6 (WS): Sl1, K2, P9, K2, P1
Row 7 (RS): Sl1, P2, K3, C6F, P2, K1
Row 8 (WS): Sl1, K2, P9, K2, P1
Repeat Braid pattern 11(13) times, for a total of
12(14) repeats of pattern.
Work Row 1 once more. Then, BO in pattern on WS row.
BO to last stitch leaving this stitch on the needle. Pick up as evenly as possible 84 (88) sts across long side
edge and back side of braid (front of hood). - 84 (88) sts.
Using backwards loop method, cast on 12 (16) sts. 96 (104) sts
Next row, purl to end, using backwards loop method, cast on 12 (16) sts at end of row. 108 (120) sts
Hood Section:
Row 1: K1, *(YO, K2, PSSO), repeat from * to last stitch in row, K1.
Row 2: Purl to end of row.
Repeat rows 1-2, 10 (12) times. - 11 (13) repeats of pattern
Then, repeat Row 1 once more.
Using Kitcheners stitch, seam up the back of the hood.
