Duties for the post of Laboratory Technician

1.

To collect samples analysed in the Wastewater Laboratory and keep records thereof.

2.

To perform any test assigned by laboratory management and all associated work such as
preparation of reagents, plotting graphs, calculating results and writing of reports.

3.

To assist in implementing quality assurance procedures, validate data, and creation and
maintenance of computer data of analytical results, etc.

4.

To assist in keeping inventory/ audits of items (equipment, chemicals, etc.).

5.

To assist in the procurement of equipment, chemicals and any other material required for
the Wastewater Laboratory.

6.

To carry out first line maintenance and the general care of laboratory equipment so as to
keep them in good working condition.

7.

To follow and implement all health and safety rules associated with the laboratory.

8.

To use ICT in the performance of his duties.

9.

To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to
the delivery of the output and results expected from Laboratory Technicians in the roles
ascribed to them.
