5m Satellite Television Receiving Antenna

Model T4.5-04bs/12-

Technical Instructions

Guizhou Zhenhua Antenna Communication Equipment Co., Ltd.

(No.4191 Plant)

1 Purpose, technical data and performances

Model 4.5m-04bs/12-antenna is a kind of standard-structured antenna,
can be used for receiving C-band and Ku-band satellite television programs.
The antenna is composed of a reflector, a central cylinder, a column, a feed
system and a sub-reflector etc.
The main reflector is composed of 15 pieces of panels, with each formed by
quenching, stretching and riveting; the material is purchased from Southwest
Aluminum, one of the state large-scale enterprises; the aluminum plates are
LY12 and thick 1.8mm; backing strips are LY12, XC113-48 angle aluminum;
the ring beams are formed of rectangular tubes by welding; the assembly
precision of the main surface is 0.5mm. The sub-reflector is cast with
aluminum alloy and shall be subject to NC machining, enjoying higher surface
precision. Corrugated horn feeding is used as feed system of the antenna.
Antenna panels are protected by coating zinc chromate primer and white
finishing coat; steel parts also under the double protection of primer and
finishing coat; the antenna has excellent anti-wind ability and fully meets the
requirements for wind resistance.
The support mechanism is column-type pitch and azimuth seat frame, can
be driven electrically or by hand at users option; the manual pitch adjustment
mechanism is accompanied by worm gear drive, easy for antenna adjustment.
The antenna is characterized by excellent electric performances, graceful
structure and appearance, powerful wind resistance, reliable quality and easy
operation and maintenance etc. Major technical data and performances are
given in Table 1.

2 Basic antenna structure

Basic antenna structure, please refer to Figure.1; Antenna foundation refer
to Figure.2; and parts and accessories as well as packing list refer to Table 2.
2.1 Requirements for antenna foundation
1) The requirements are given according to installation conditions, and
user shall design foundation construction diagram with reference to the
requirements and actual installation position.
2) After foundation construction, the upper surface of foundation plate
shall be in parallel with horizontal plane, with allowable tolerance of
0.5mm.
3) Foundation load: upward 20KN; downward 60KN; overturning moment
60000K.M.

3 Foundation construction specifications:

Eight 20 holes shall be drilled, according to the diagram, evenly around a
700 round thats formed by a piece of 2mm iron plate or 5-ply veneer, as a
foundation template. The purpose is to ensure the relative positions and sizes
of anchorage bolts. The foundation template may be square or round.
Eight M20600 (the length shall be as per design requirements for roof use)
anchorage bolts shall be purchased from the standard hardware components
market, attached by double nuts.
The anchorage bolts shall be connected to the reinforcement of the RC of
the building.
Upon pouring concrete, eight anchorage bolts with nuts shall pass through
the foundation template, and remaining nuts shall be applied at the other sides
and screwed down with a wrench, ensuring the threaded portion has 50-70mm
exposed outside and then protected by wrapping adhesive tape.
During antenna installation, the template may be taken down or not, and
only removing the nuts thereon.

4 Antenna installation and adjustment

4.1 Installation of 4.5m antenna
During installation, the main reflector shall be installed at first; then the
sub-reflector, feed source and sleeves etc. shall be installed in the main
reflector; then the seat frame shall be lifted on the foundation, and
corresponding pitch transmission and screw rod etc. be fitted; then the
assembled reflector shall be entirely lifted on the seat frame; finally
corresponding connecting parts and indicating mechanisms etc. shall be fitted.
During main reflector installation, the working sequence shall be based on the
numbers on the components such as central piece, radiation beam and panel
etc.
4.2

Adjustment of 4.5m antenna

The adjustment mainly indicates sub-surface position adjustment by

method: to change sub-surface position, ensure its central axis is same as the
feed source axis and main surface axis. Axial position of the sub-surface shall
be decided by the optimal TV receiving effect.
4.3 Adjustment of angle of direction
Angle of direction of the antenna is mainly decided by the longitude and
latitude of the place to install the antenna and longitude of the received satellite.
In the manual system, the angle of direction can be adjusted freely, generally
based on the receiving effect. For the pitch-azimuth antenna support
mechanisms, the regulation mainly targets at the pitch angle and azimuth
angle.
Azimuth angle:

arctg

tg ( )

sin

Pitch angle:

arctg

cos cos(
) 0.151
-61 cos cos ( )

-Longitude of satellite
-Longitude of site
-Latitude of site
-Magnetic declination of the site
When calculated azimuth angle < 0, it indicates that the antenna points at
south by west.

5 Operation and maintenance

5.1 The feed system has been tested and determined in factory, shall not
be arbitrarily adjusted or detached in use.
5.2

Upon wind power exceeds Level 10, the antenna shall be regulated
to the skyward position and locked in a timely way.

5.3 The running portions (including speed reducer) shall be greased (with
No.2 aircraft grease ZL45-2, ZBE36008-88) at regular time interval (2
3 months).
5.4 Antenna surface shall be coated periodically, i.e. once per 2 3
years.
