ClassResponsibilities
1. Attendanceplaysanimportantroleincollege,fromteachingresponsibilityinanacademic
environmenttogivingyouthetoolstolandasuccessfulcareer.Youshouldalsopay
attentiontothefollowingregulationsregardingattendance:
a. Inorderforanabsencetobejustified,youneedtopresentdocumentation.Itcanbea
photocopyofamedicalcertificate,aphotocopyofascheduledtrip,oranyother
documentthatcandemonstrateaneedtobeabsentbeyondallreasonabledoubt.Ifyou
aregoingtorepresenttheInterMetro,makesuretopresentanofficialdocumentfromthe
institutionasevidence.Ifyouneedtobeabsentduetoconflictsbetweenyourworkand
youreducation,knowthatyouhaveacommitmenttoyoureducationfirst.Therefore,try
tomakeabalancebetweenworkandschoolforsuccessfulresults.Anabsenceofthis
categorycanbejustified,buttoomanyoftheseabsencesareinadmissible.
b. Ifyouarrivetoclasslate,youhavetheresponsibilityofinformingtheprofessoratthe
endofclass.Failingtodosowillresultinanabsence.Ifyouarrive45ormoreminutes
late,youwillbeautomaticallyconsideredabsentifnoproperjustificationispresented.If
youarrivelateandleaveearly,youwillalsobeconsideredabsentifnoproper
justificationispresented.Ifyouareabsentduringanoralpresentationorduringaclass
workactivitywithoutproperjustification,youwillgeta0.

2. Avoidinterruptionswhiletheclassisinsession.Thisincludesconversationsoutofplace
andleavingtheclassroombeforetheprofessorstatesthatitistimetoleave.Ifyouleavethe

youwillbemarkedabsent.Ifthereisanoralpresentationinprogress,youmustwaituntil

electronicdevicesforacademicpurposesratherthanforgettingdistractedinclass.

4. Bringtextbooksoranycoursematerialsdistributedinclassatalltimes.Ifyoudonothave
thematerialsinclass,pointswillbededucted.Theprofessorwillnotremindyouaboutthis
responsibility.
5. Allassignmentswillbecollectedonspecificdatesandwillrequireyoutopayattentionto
instructions.Failingtocomplywithbothwillresultinpointdeduction,affectingyour
overallgradefortheassignment(s).Ifyoudonotunderstandtheinstructionsofaparticular
work,asktheprofessorforhelponduetime.Donotaskwhenthereisnotimelefttoreceive
properhelp.
6. Someclassactivitiesarenotscheduledaheadoftime.Theytakeplacesporadically.This
meansthat,ifyouareabsentforoneormoreoftheseactivities,youwilleitherlosepointsor
receive0pointsdependingontheirlength.Onlystudentswhopresentjustifiableevidence
willbegivenanopportunitytomakeupforthem.Itisimportantthatyoualwaysreviewthe
lessonsdiscussedinclasstoexcelintheseactivities.
7. Acoursewebsitewillbeusedtoaccessmaterialforthecourse.Theprofessorwillstillsend
anemailwiththecontentuploadedonthiswebsitetobenefitthosestudentswhouserelyon
InterMetroWiFiorcomputerservices.However,ifyoueverlosetrackoftheseemail

newcopyofanyassigneddocument.Ifthereareconnectionoraccessproblems,contactthe

8. Allhandwrittenworkmustbelegibleandclearwhendraftsaredoneinclass.Whenhanding
infinalworksforevaluation,everythingshouldbepresentableandmustshowcommitment
toinstructions.
9. Plagiarizingwillnotbetolerated.Iftheprofessorfindsoutthatthereistheslightestuseof
plagiarisminyourwork,youwillreceiveafailinggradeforthesubmittedwork.Ifthedeed
isdonetwice,youwillreceiveafailinggradeforthecourse.Plagiarismisillegal.
10. Donoteatordrinkintheclassroom.Ifyouneedtodosoasaresultofanillnessordueto
anothersituationthatisequallymeritable,youhavetobringevidenceortalktotheprofessor
aheadoftimetobegrantedpermission.Letustrytopreserveaclearareaforabetter
learningenvironment.
11. Ifthereisasignonthedoorstatingthattheprofessorisabsent,makesuretoreadallthe
informationonitbeforeleaving.Ifthereisnosignandtheprofessorhasnotarrivedontime,
waitatleast30minutes.
12. DonotleaveanyassignmentsattheEnglishDepartmentwithoutauthorization.Ifyouhave
