1.0 INTRODUCTION

Hardware ;
Computer hardware, or simply hardware in computing contexts, refers to the physical
parts of a computer and related devices. Internal hardware devices include motherboards,
hard drives, and RAM. External hardware devices include monitors, keyboards, mice,
printers, and scanners. The internal hardware parts of a computer are often referred to as
components, while external hardware devices are usually called peripherals. Together,
they all fall under the category of computer hardware.
Software ;
Software means computer instructions or data. Anything that can be stored electronically
is software, in contrast to storage devices and display devices which are called hardware.
Software consists of carefully-organized instructions and code written by programmers in
any of various special computer languages. Software is divided commonly into two main
categories. First, system software, that controls the basic functions of a computer and
comes usually preinstalled with the machine. See also BIOS and Operating System.
Second, application software, that handles multitudes of common and specialized tasks a
user wants to perform, such as accounting, communicating, data processing, word
processing.
DREAM LINUX 5
DreamLinux is a distribution that is based on Debian Wheezy and using the latest desktop
version of XFCE 4.8 on a Linux 3.1 Kernel.
DreamLinux has just released this latest version on January 2012 after a long absence and wewill
see if it can make up for lost time.
When youve created a bootable LiveDVD of DreamLinux, you are greated by a Mac OS X
styledesktop with which most of the software packages you have installed are there for you on
thekicker bar by default, or you can, still use the menu on the top left side of the screen and
access the program you want from there.
FEDORA LINUX
A Linux-based operating system that showcases the latest in free and open sourcesoftware.
Fedora is always free for anyone to use, modify, and distribute. It is built by people across the
globe who work together as a community: the FedoraProject. The Fedora Project is open and
anyone is welcomed to join
MOZILLA FIREFOX

-OpenOffice (seehttp://www.openoffice.org/): an office application set (for word
processing, spreadsheet manipulation, picture drawing and data base access) compatible with all

Pervasive computing is the trend towards increasingly ubiquitous ( another name for the
movement is ubiquitious computing ), connected computing devices in the environment,
a trend being brought about by a convergence of advanced electronic and particularly,
wireless-technologies and the Internet. Pervasive computing devices are not personal
computers as we tend to think of them, but very tiny-even invisible-devices, either mobile
or embedded in almost any type of object imaginable, including cars, tools, appliances,
clothing and various consumer goods all communicating through increasingly
interconnected networks.
GPS
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellitesystem (GNSS)
that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where
there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. It ismaintained by the United
States government and is freely accessible by anyone with a GPSreceiver. The GPS project was
developed in 1973 to overcome the limitations of previousnavigation systems, integrating ideas
from several predecessors, including a number of classifiedengineering design studies from the
1960s. GPS was created and realized by the U.S.Department of Defense (USDOD) and was
originally run with 24 satellites. It became fullyoperational in 1994.
PDA
A personal digital assistant (PDA) is a handheld computer, also known as a palmtopcomputer.
Newer PDAs also have both color screens and audio capabilities, enablingthem to be used as
mobile phones, web browsers, or portable media players. ManyPDAs can access the Internet via
Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-Area Networks (WWANs).Many PDAs employ touch screen
technology.
6.0 CONCLUSION
Open Source can be used anyone and because it has no copyright claims, so user are free to use,
change and improve the software and to redistribute it in modifies or unmodified forms.
Pervasive computing is to make our lives easier because we can interact with computers. Besides
that, we can easily give the computer commands and the computer will grant your wish.
