our church and community. It showcases new events that may not be
present in our monthly newsletter. The Weekly News is also posted
on our website: www.esumc.net along with other news and events.
If you want your activity to be included, please make your
submissions to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Welcome Visitors!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome
you. As a church we are committed to Love Jesus Christ
and to Share His Love. We offer three services: 8:30 and
11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m. is contemporary.
~ Our Welcome Center is located in Oberholtzer Hall, the room next
to the sanctuary. Brochures on all our ministries are available there.
~ Our Holy Grounds Café is a place for light refreshments and coffee
from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. each Sunday in our Fellowship Hall. The
café provides worshipers with an informal opportunity for fellowship.
~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from
8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church
and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent
volunteers.
~ Children’s Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the
11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be
dismissed after the Children’s Message. Please pick up your children
in the lower level of the church following worship.
Ministry
Opportunities for Congregational Care and Service to the Church
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be
prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors
and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of
service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Ephesians 4:11-12
In Ephesians 4, Paul talks about pastors and other leaders as gifts God
has given the church "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for
building up the body of Christ." Stephen Ministry gives us an organized
way to equip those gifted for caring ministry in order to build up the
body of Christ by providing Christian care and support to those
experiencing a difficult time.
Beginning Wednesday, September 8 an in-depth training course will be
offered for members who desire to become involved in this life
changing ministry. More information will be shared during worship on
Stephen Ministry Sunday, July 18, and continue each Sunday through
the month of August. You may also contact Peggy Strack at the church
office at 570-421-3280.
The Cook Family who recently lost their home in a fire needs help in
moving into a new home within the next few weeks. For information
and/or to volunteer, call Peggy at 421-3280, ext. 23.
American Cancer Society of Monroe County offers many free
services to cancer patients. If you or someone you love would like
further information about obtaining a wig, make-up, transportation to
treatments, or one-on-one support, contact them at 1-888-227-2345.
Items Available: A case of ThickenUp, an instant food thickener for
people who have trouble swallowing, is available to anyone who can use
it by calling Peggy at 421-3280, ext. 23. A Free Hospital Bed, in
like-new condition, is available for anyone in need. If interested, call
Nancy, 420-9007.

Opportunities to Support and Enhance Worship
The Altar Flowers are given to the Glory of God in honor of the
baptism of Abigail Marie Dorsch by her parents. (2pu)
Last Week The Altar Flowers were given to the Glory of God in
memory of Pauline and Dale Learn by the family.
Being Baptized Today during the 9:45 a.m. service are Carter Matthew
and Alexander Drake Judd children of Jeremy & Heather Judd and
brothers to Jesse.
The Choral Music during the 8:30 a.m. service is based on the farewell
words of Jesus to his followers, Go into all the World with joy and
preach my gospel of peace. Many thanks to Lindsay Randall for the
timpani part and to Abigail’s extended family during the 11 a.m. service
as they honor her baptism with music.
Music Ministry Opportunities are still available for June, July and
August during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. Persons interested in solo
or small ensembles in a variety of music styles are invited to see Pauline
Fox or email her at foxes@esumc.net.
Missions
Opportunities for Service and Outreach to Our Community and World
Quilts for Pocono Area Transitional Housing - The Davis Sunday
school class is making quilts for these families in transition. Donations
of used (good condition) full size sheets, quilts, blankets or any kind of
material are needed. Call Lois Taylor at 402-4882 or bring these items
to the Bridal Lounge any Sunday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Our Next Soup Kitchens are Friday, May 28 led by Nancy Gargone
and Monday, May 31 led by Kristen Oney. Volunteers are needed for
set-up, food preparation and serving during both days. To volunteer for
either day or for information , please call Nancy Gargone at 421-1456.
Prayer and Praise
If you have a prayer request, please list it either on the prayer sheet in
the rear of the sanctuary or on the back of the friendship pad. Please be
sure to include your name on the request. This aids us in updating our
weekly prayer requests. Confidentiality is very important. We, as a
church family, want to honor each person's right to privacy. Please be
mindful of this as you write your requests.

Opportunities That Enhance the Fellowship of the Body of Christ
Reserved Tables in Fellowship Hall - Tables set up on Sunday in the
Fellowship Hall are reserved for scheduled ministries and advertised
accordingly. Please do not take a table already reserved for other groups.
We ask that you schedule your needs in advance with Sharmune in the

The Older Kids, 55+ ministry, are meeting in Fellowship Hall
Monday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. for a Casserole Party with guest speaker
Sandy Gordon from Gorman Chiropractic Life Center. Bring your
favorite casserole to share. Desserts and beverages provided.
Saturday Night Fellowship meets June 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. in
Fellowship Hall. Summer is here, time for hamburgers & hotdogs. Bring
a cold side dish to share. Loretta Anthes will lead devotions. This is a
great opportunity to bring a friend and share in fellowship.
While Under Construction we ask for your patience. Please note that
parking behind the church will be reduced during construction. Please
allow additional time for parking. We will keep you posted on a regular
basis. In the meantime, volunteers are needed to help reduce the cost by
assisting in various tasks and making donations of materials to be used

in our parking lot. This drive is sponsored by the Pocono Running Club

Opportunities That Deepen Discipleship Through Learning
Women of Faith is September 10-11, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. Kelli
Mercurio is excited about this year’s event. She wants to take 50 women
from our church and community! Tickets are $89 and includes two box
lunches. Payments this year can be made on-line using a charge card at
www.gps.womenoffaith.com (group name ESUMC, East Stroudsburg,
PA). Kelli will be in Fellowship Hall to answer any questions you may
have. She also has gift certificates if you would like to treat a special
woman in your life. Invite a friend and experience this event together.
Joe Corby’s Pizza Sale is now in progress. Place an individual order or
get a form to take multiple orders in Fellowship Hall today. Deadline for
ordering is June 13, Pickup is Saturday June 26 from 9 a.m. - noon.
Proceeds benefit the Spiritual Life Retreat.
Children's Ministry - Birth to 6th Grade
Backyard Buddies/Lord's Army will meet Tuesday, June 1 for the last
meeting of the year. Bikes can be dropped off during the day. If you
can help with bike transport, let Sue Randall know. Families are
welcome to join us for the potluck picnic at the McDade Trail around 5
p.m. Hot dogs will be provided; families should bring a dish to share.
College-Aged Ministry – F.O.G.

Building, 2nd Floor.
• Bible Study meets every Tuesday night in the Youth Room "tank"

Opportunities That Deepen Discipleship Through Learning
Youth Ministry - 7th - 12th Grades
6th graders entering 7th grade next year are invited to join in
Jr. High and Youth Group Programing.
Youth Sunday School Classes for all youth in 7th - 12th grades meet
weekly at 11 a.m. in the Youth Room.
Sunday Night Youth Program will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. The evening
will consist of fellowship, worship and message and games.
Thursday Night Bible Studies (small groups) meet weekly. Youth meet
in the Youth Room from 7-7:20 p.m. for fellowship and then break into
small groups for Bible study from 7:30– 8:30 p.m.
J.A.M (7th and 8th grade outreach), after-school program, meets
every Wednesday, from 2:45-5 p.m. at the church. Church van
transportation from Stroudsburg and JTL schools is available.
Permission forms are in the Youth Room or at the Information Center
in Fellowship Hall. Friends are invited!
2010 Summer Mission Trips - Sr. High Mississippi Trip for students
completing 8th -12th grades is Friday, July 23 – Sunday, August 1. $100
deposit is now due to reserve your spot. Jr. High Pittsburgh Project
Trip is Monday July 5 – Friday July 9 for all students going into 7th or
8th grade. A $70 non-refundable deposit is needed to reserve your spot.
For a list of payments and meeting dates, please see Scott Kuhnle or
pick up a copy in the youth room.
Creation 2010 - If you are interested in attending this trip from June 30-
July 4, please email Scott at skuhnle@esumc.net. The total cost for the
trip is $130 per person.
