Title System and method for extracting power from fluid using a tesla-type bladeless turbine
Abstract Smooth, preferably variable-sweep fluid collection device surfaces disposed into opposition with
wind, river, surf, ocean or tidal currents generate enhanced velocity fluid flows at length driven
into onboard work-extracting disc turbines at advantageous angles of attack. Keyed to shafts
turning freely through optionally extendable volutes, disc turbines comprising a dense population
of smooth, axially fixed or adjustably spaced discs conducting preferably laminar flow between
adjacent elements develop significant torque through boundary layer adhesion and viscous
shear-stress between fluid layers. Exhaust of disc turbine throughput into divergent channels
drafting into external currents of initially higher than ambient velocity and lower pressure may
reduce turbine discharge backpressure, rapidly clear system throughput, and allow normally
disadvantageous drag to be utilized to develop greater work generation. Gainfully turning with,
instead of at odds to natural or anthropogenic currents provided, disc turbines utilized as disclosed
may provide unprecedented renewable energy from fluids in motion.

causes the system to be airborne. A center of gravity of the system is lower than its center of
lift. When the turbines are exposed to wind and rotate (at least one in one direction and another
in an opposite direction), torques induced on the shaft(s) of the system balance each other and
remaining deferential torque is balanced by returning torque that is generated by the angular
deviation of the center of gravity from its lowest position. A magnitude of this returning torque
increases as the angular deviation increases until the system reach angular stability. Electricity is
generated and conducted for storage or usage.

Title System for providing dynamic pitch control in a wind turbine
Abstract A system for providing dynamic pitch control in a wind turbine. In accordance with an embodiment,
the dynamic pitch control uses a starting spring to pitch the blades of the wind turbine into a
starting position that is suited for very low wind speeds. The pitch control then automatically
pitches the blades into a run position as the rotation speed increases, using a combination of a
rotational mass and a restraining spring. This allows the turbine to be started, and to generate
power, at a much lower starting wind speed yet still operate at optimal speeds in its typical running
range. In accordance with an embodiment, as the wind speed further increases beyond an
overspeed limit, the rotational mass overcomes its restraining spring, and automatically pitches
the blades back toward and beyond their start position, reducing the likelihood of damage to the
turbine caused by high rotation speeds.

Title Design of a group of wind power plants
Abstract The present invention relates to a group of wind power plants for positioning in approximately
the same wind climate, comprising at least a first and at least a second wind power plant, where
the first wind power plant exhibits maximised power output within a first interval of wind speeds,
and the second wind power plant is designed to exhibit maximised power output within a second
interval of wind speeds which is different from and starting from lower wind speeds than the first
wind speed interval to the effect that the total power output of the group of wind power plants
is increased at lower wind speeds. Moreover, the invention relates to a method of designing
a group of wind power plants in accordance with the above. This can be accomplished eg by
designing the supplementary wind power plant(s) with a larger rotor area and with a lower cut-
out wind speed or, alternatively, by using a wind power plant without power-regulating means.
Hereby it is accomplished that the power production of the group becomes more uniform and not
so dependent on the current wind speed. The smaller power output from the supplementary wind
power plants is completely or partially balanced by, on the one hand, the lower production and
operating costs of the turbine and, on the other, the higher price on electricity.

Title Portable renewable energy box system
Abstract A small, easily transportable wind turbine system has a square rail base secured to the ground
by stakes and by its own weight. Slanted vertical legs connect a smaller square upper support
perimeter to the base. A three-section telescoping mast is attached to the base and to the upper
support. Winches and guy wires raise the second mast. As the second mast is raised, static
guy wires raise the third mast. A wind generating turbine is attached to the top of the third mast.
A controller senses the maximum output of the turbine and raises or lowers the height of the
masts such that the minimum wind speed necessary to produce the maximum electric output is
produced. The controller also feeds energy to a battery storage system and directly to a utility
panel.
