Dialectic Discussion on the Concept of Bayan, Tao,
at Pagpapakatao
The contents of this paper are my viewpoints regarding the
concept of Bayan, Tao, at Pagpapakatao relating the recent
political occurrences in the country. Also, I will try to present the
negative and positive sides of the aforementioned topic.

BAYAN
Our country, the Philippines, is the birthplace of patriots. We
will never get lack of heroes in the country. Jose Rizal, Andres
Bonifacio, Antonio Luna, were some of the valiant Filipinos who
dauntlessly devoted their life for the love of country. The values
that they had passed on to us are still observed by the new
generations of Filipinos up to now. It will not be surprising if there
will be more Filipinos who will be known because of their
nationalism.

TAO
Some of the rampant issues that have been enslaving our
country over the years are corruption, inhumane crimes,
prevalent poverty, and the ever-worsening traffic. These words
have become a usual terminology to describe the day-to-day
scenario in the Philippines. Its like we have been so accustomed
to all of these problems that they have become part of our daily
life. I, myself, am a witness of these. I have seen Filipinos who do
not have a place in their own country, Filipino workers who have
to work abroad and leave their family behind, Filipino children
who cannot go to school due to poverty, and the list goes on.
Despite of the trials, Filipinos still live a just and modest life.
We can still manage to look at the brighter side of life; perhaps,
this is due to our unique trait that is innate to us- The cheerful
Juan. We have different ways to cope up with our problems.
Some would just laugh and wont even bother about it; others
would simply go out with their acquaintances and have the time
of their life, etc.

PAGPAPAKATAO
The ultimate goal of the schools in our country is to produce
morally upright and dignified Filipinos who will be better citizens
of the country. But our corrupt politicians and authorities are an
exemption. It is indeed disappointing to think that we were the
ones who chose them, believing that they can make a difference.
As another administration in our country comes in, we have
come to be more hopeful that one day all the difficulties will soon
end. That their promises will be realized and they are far from
those immoral politicians we elected. 18 million Filipinos who
believed that Change is coming have begun hoping for a
brighter future in the hands of the new administration. More
heroes and patriots will be known. They may not be holding a bolo
like Bonifacio, a pen and paper like Rizal, or a revolver like
Antonio Luna. They may be the new kind of heroes armed with
the good values he inherited from his forefathers, determination
to win against the struggles in life and most importantly,
immense love for the country. And that brand of Filipino patriots
can be anyone of us.
