Based on the novel Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, write about one lesson you

have learnt.
In the novel , Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, one lesson I have learnt is we must remain
calm and be resourceful to overcome problems quickly like Phileas Fogg. Phileas Fogg accepts Andrew Stuarts
challenge and bet to travel around the world in eighty days.
Along the way, he encounters all kinds of impossible obstacles and dangers but he calmly overcomes them
with his resourcefulness. For example, on the way to Calcutta, the train suddenly stops because 50 miles of rail is not
completed. Phileas buys an elephant, hires a guide and goes to Allahabad to catch the train to Calcutta.
Fix wrongly suspects that Phileas is the bank robber and delays him a few times. In Calcutta, he reports that
Passepartout entered a Hindu temple illegally. Passepartout is imprisoned and charged in court but Phileas pays his 2
000 bail. Then, he misses the Carnatic ship to Japan because in Hong Kong, Fix stops Passepartout from telling
Phileas that it leaves early. Phileas, however, stays calm. He hires the Tankedere and boards the Carnatic in Shanghai.
Finally, Fix decides to catch him in England because nothing stops Phileas.
In New York too, Phileas misses the China Ship to Liverpool so he hires a trading ship, the Henrientta. Then,
he convinces the crew to sail to Liverpool. When there is no more coal, he even buys the ship and orders the crew to
burn the top to keep it going until Liverpool. He is an excellent problem solver because he stays calm and positive.
From Phileas, we learn that it is important to be resourceful and calm to overcome challenges.

Based on the novel Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, write about an interesting event / an incident
that you think is important.
In the novel , Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, an interesting event ( an incident that I
think is important) is when Passepartout protects his master, Phileas and Aouda along the journey.
In this novel, Passepartout helped Phileas to save Aouda from the bandits. On their way to Calcutta, Phileas
and Passepartout saw a group of bandits pulling a Indian girl, named Aouda. When Phileas ordered the rescue of
Aouda from the bandits, Passepartout helped him without questioning. Finally, both of them managed to rescue the
Indian merchant daughter.
Passepartout also made sure that Phileas was safe along the journey. On their way to New York, their train
was attacked by the outlaws. The train must be stopped or it would crash. Phileas wanted to stop the runaway train but
Passepartout stopped him from doing so. Instead, Passepartout stepped out of the train and with his acrobatic skills, he
crawled under the moving train and pulled the chain of the train. Finally, Passepartout was able to stop the train.
Moreover, Passepartout did not believe that Phileas Fogg was a bank robber. Passepartout kept telling
Detective Fix that Phileas was the most honourable man and a gentleman. Passepartout insisted Phileas did not
commit the crime. As they arrived at Liverpool, Phileas was arrested and jailed by Fix. Passepartout hit Fix angrily
when the real robber was arrested and Phileas was freed. Passepartout had trust in him.
In conclusion, Passepartout remained loyal to Phileas even after Phileas married Aouda. That is why I find this
event is interesting/ I think this incident is important.
