Interior Design
Course Syllabus
COURSE:
Students explore their creativity while integrating knowledge, skills, and
practices in housing, interiors, and furnishings. Identification of the elements
and principles of design are emphasized. Topics may include furniture
arrangement and history, floor plan design and drafting; and careers.
Students should enjoy hands-on and project learning. This is an introductory
class and is suitable for students wishing to design and decorate for their own
use as well as those wanting to pursue a career in the field.

GOALS:
Students will obtain a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of interior
design as a possible career choice. They will have hands-on learning
experiences through projects.

EXPECTATIONS:
Students are expected to learn opportunities in interior design. Students will
have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sound decision making are
required at ALL times.

COURSE SUPPLIES:

Spiral or notebook paper


Pens and Pencils
Choice of personal website (weebly) or a binder for final grade

EVALUATION:
A variety of methods such as oral presentations,, group projects, class
participation, attendance, teacher observations, and adhering to the MISD
dress code and Student Code of Conduct.
GRADES:
30% Formative Observations, Journaling, Lesson Preparations, Time
Management, Collaboration, Sample Board, Class Discussion
and Contribution
70% Summative Tests, Teacher Observations, Oral Presentations, Group
Projects & Professionalism Checks (Attendance Checks &
Participation )
FINAL EXAMINATION:
Written exam, Portfolio Review, Written Thank You Letters to guest visitors,
Administrators, School Board Members and Central Office Staff that make this
program happen.
ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES:
All students are expected to adhere to both school and district policies.

campus to complete their field-based internship and that they are responsible for their
