Companies to adhere in the context of the Philippine Policies/

violating the Philippine Environmental laws:

Asian Alcohol Corp. in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental

The Asian Alchohol Corporation was a Tanduay subsidiary. Asian Alcohol

Corp. is the second biggest distillery in the Philippines located in Negros
Occidental. Asian Alcohol has distillation process that uses molasses, yeast,
water and other ingredients. It has a 10 hectare plant in Negros, which is the
center of the country's sugar industry. Plant facilities include aging facilities
and a modern wastewater treatment plant which converts distillery waste
into biogas energy for its power requirements. It was reported in 2008 that
The Asian Alcohol factory produced effluents of 640 milligrams per liter,
which is way above the DENR standard of 150 milligrams per liter for total
suspended solids (TSS) and was forced by the DENR to shutdown and fine
the corporation. But today, a unit of the Lucio Tan Group (LTG), is looking at the
possibility of putting up a wind project in its facility in Negros Occidental, to have a better
promotion of its eco-friendly advocacy, a ranking company official said.

Victorias Sugar Milling Co. in Victorias City, Negros Occidental

Milling Company, Inc. (VMC) is an agro-industrial complex located in Victorias

City, Negros Occidental. It was founded by Don Miguel J. Ossorio on May 7,
1919. Built on solid 600-hectare ground, it was among the earliest modern
sugar firms in the country at the turn of the century. From its lowly
beginnings of 1,500 tons raw capacity, the sugar mill has evolved into one of
the largest integrated raw and refined sugar operations in the world. It has
three business segments which are cane supply mills, raw sugar production
and refined sugar production. However it is also included in the 5 companies
that violated the Philippine Environmental law. According to Leones, Victorias
was shut down because its factory continued emitting dark smoke from its
chimneys despite ample time given to it to stem the pollution.
Ambient air samples taken from the surrounding areas of the sugar milling
firm showed a total suspended particulates (TSP) with a concentration of 790

micrograms per normal cubic meter, far above DENR emission standards of
300 micrograms per normal cubic meter.
