computer skills.
Content
This workshop provides a step-by-step approach to itslearning. The
teachers will explore the different aspects of the LMS. This will allow
teachers to become familiar with the LMS and its features, allowing them
to gain and understanding about the advantages of utilizing an LMS as a
platform for facilitating instruction in an effective learning environment
that enhances student learning by supplementing the traditional classroom
setting.
List the objectives for this lesson.
Beginners will:
Teachers will experience various teaching strategies, such as authentic
learning, performance-based assessment, and blended learning as
components of an LMS, as avenues to individualize instruction regarding
learners ability level, learning style and needs and as avenues to foster
peer interaction, self-motivation and self-direction.
Teachers will add 2 activities and 2 resources to their own itslearning files
How will you teach the lesson?
Additional material s you will use and how will you use them.
Teachers will meet in the computer labs and Media centers of the
designated schools. There teachers can access the Web. At the same time
technology, such as a projector, computer and whiteboard is available for
the facilitator of the workshop.
Evaluation Strategies
At the end of the lesson, teachers will be asked post 2 activities and 2
resources to their personal itslearning files. The section where teachers
share their concerns will provide the Professional Development Teams
suggestions of what to address in upcoming workshops.
Authentic Learning
Experiences
Day # 2
Prerequisite Knowledge
Teachers must have knowledge of Common
Core, State and District Standards. They must
have successfully transferred their files to MS
Office 365 Cloud based storage provided by
the district. Teachers should have a basic
understanding of how to access the Internet to
obtain Web 2.0 tools and internet based
applications. Preferably teachers have some
experience of integrating these tools into their
instructional setting. Teachers must be familiar
with Microsoft PowerPoint and its basic
features.
learning. Teachers will also explore the Microsoft Office 365 subscription
and its applications, specifically focusing on One Drive. Within the
Microsoft Office and its suites, beginners will explore PowerPoint Office
Mix as interactive presentation tool. At the same time, participant will
focus on exploring Web 2.0 tools and online applications. The workshops
aims to create an understanding how to effectively integrate those tools
(Web based and MS Office 365 based) into their classrooms: as ways to
create an interactive learning, student centered environment, and as tools
to create quizzes, polls and alternative forms of assessment that allow for
data collection and the adjustment of instruction.
List the objectives for this lesson.
Beginners will:
Teacher will evaluate authentic learning experiences and compare and
contrast this approach to the traditional assessment approach.
Teachers will summarize how MS Office 365 apps can be utilized in
facilitating an authentic learning environment.
Teachers will develop and lesson seed that incorporates two Web 2.0
based-activities that support authentic learning that they can use in their
own classroom.
How will you teach the lesson?
This lesson will include the following teaching strategies: Using Padlet, the
facilitator will begin by having participants share their definitions of
authentic learning and give one example how authentic learning can be
facilitated in a classroom. In the following sharing session, the participants
will discuss the different definitions and authentic learning experiences.
Then participants will watch a video incorporating an authentic learning
experience. Participants will be asked to take notes. Following the video,
participants will use Padlet to post their opinion of what they felt made the
learning experience authentic.
Participants will then be prompted to sign into their HCPS start page and
access their OneDrive account. The facilitator will model how to sync a
computer other than the classroom work-station, how to upload and share
documents and how to create a group. The participants will be asked to
create a group and share a document within this group. This workshop
component is based on teacher feedback and aims for beginners to gain
additional understanding of the Cloud as a storage and the possibility to
utilize OneDrive as an interactive platform.
In the next workshop component, the facilitator will introduce PowerPoint
Office Mix by highlighting some of its features Then the facilitator will ask
participants to access its learning and the specific workshop module. After
The results of the survey will be collected at the district level by the Office
of Instructional Technology and shared with the Teacher Leader Committee
and the School Based Technology Training Team.
These teams will review and discuss the survey results during their next
team meeting and provide feedback and suggestions to the Office of
Instructional Technology. Survey results as well as feedback and
suggestions will inform the decision making process regarding necessary
adjustments for the upcoming session and any future professional
development workshops.

Content
Participants will access itslearning to find resources based on their ability
levels. They will access these resources to analyze online and blended
learning and how to effective plan and facilitate these learning
environments. Teachers will analyze technology based tools that support
online learning/blended learning. Participants will search for content
related videos on YouTube, Vimeo, Ted, and the Khan Academy. Participants
will be asked to explore how to use Screen-O-Matic, EdPuzzle, and Photo
Story 3 for Windows. Then teachers select their favorite tool to create a
video for their classroom. Eventually teachers will learn how to upload their
videos to itslearning, YouTube or Edline and itslearning.
List the objectives for this lesson.
Beginners will:
Teachers will analyze the flipped classroom/blended learning environment
as avenues: to individualize instruction regarding learners ability level,
learning style and needs and as avenues to foster peer interaction, selfmotivation and self-direction
Teachers will utilize technology to create an instructional video that can be
implemented in a flipped classroom environment
How will you teach the lesson? Details help.
This lesson will include the following teaching strategies: The lesson will
start out by having teachers watch a few shorts videos from different
content areas. This will be followed by a discussion, aiming for participant
to explore the effects of multimedia in the classroom. After accessing the
LMS, teachers will utilize the itslearning platform to explore the concepts of
the flipped classroom and the blended learning environment, the
pertinence of videos within them, as well as view some examples of how to
effectively implement these learning environments. While analyzing the
content, participant will take notes, regarding advantages, disadvantages,
questions and possible solutions.
This will be followed by a brainstorming activity during which learners
define these learning models. Participants then discuss the advantages
and disadvantages of these learning environment, as well as provide
possible solutions and ask questions. Participants will share ways in which
they could implement these learning environments in their own
classrooms.
Teacher then will begin searching YouTube to locate and select videos
pertinent for their classrooms. Participants will chose a video that is
relevant to their personal content area. Learners will meet in groups to
present one video they selected, provide rationale for selecting the video,
as well as the premise of how they would implement it into their own
classroom.
Teachers will then access a screencast teaching them how to use
Screencast-O-Matic to create a video. After the video-based instruction,
teachers will work independently to create one video for their own
classroom. Teachers will meet again in their groups and present the video
they created. Teachers will be able to view peer videos and participate in
exchanges about how to integrate these tools. Based on their comfort level
teachers can join different follow up workshops at their schools
Additional materials you will use and how will you use them.
Teachers will meet in the computer labs and Media centers of the
designated schools. There teachers can access the Web. At the same time
technology, such as a projector, computer and whiteboard is available for
the facilitator of the workshop.
Evaluation Strategies
At the end of the lesson, teachers will asked to create and share a video
with their peers during the workshop. Learners are also asked to post their
videos with the workshop facilitator. The quality of videos will be evaluated
by the Professional Development Team.
Additionally, teachers will be asked to rate their learning experience by
completing a survey on the following website,
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MBYNTSQ .
The results of the survey will be collected at the district level by the Office
of Instructional Technology and shared with the Teacher Leader Committee
and the School Based Technology Training Team.
These teams will review and discuss the survey results during their next
integration )
Share one lesson plan, project, assessment, technology tool-based
activity, lesson seed, video for each district-wide workshop topic,
they have created and implemented
Discuss any difficulties regarding instructional strategies, technology
tools, technology integration etc. as well as provide possible
solutions
