Installation of inert gas (clean agent) extinguishing system in

PPC structure
1.1.
The PCC structure define as Normally occupied
Enclosure (An enclosure or space where one or more
persons are present under normal circumstances) according
to NFPA 2001
1.2.
According to NFPA 2001 it's acceptable to install clean
agent extinguishing system (agent such as 100%
argon- usually known as IG-01 ) in Normally occupied
Enclosure provide all the safety requirements will be
implemented , including but not limiting to :
1.2.1.
Pre discharge alarm and Time delay (sufficient to
allow personnel evacuation prior to discharge)
1.2.2.
Escape time from any point within the structure to
the outside - not more than 30 sec
1.2.3.
Supervised disconnect switch ( recommended to
be installed in the entrance to the PCC control room )

1.2.4.

Periodically tests according to the standard

1.2.5.
Periodically training all worker onsite who are
allowed to enter the PCC control room
1.2.6.
Warning and safety instruction signs shall be
located such that they will be readily visible to personnel
in the PCC control room and to each entrance door to the
structure.

1.3.
The detection system and the clean agent extinguishing
system (including all its components ) should be approved
by SII ( according to I.S 1220 par 3 and IS 1597 )

Since Argon- clean agent extinguishing system is not

specifically mentioned in F.B. Directive 539 (clause 7.1.4
and table in addendum 2 ) as a typical extinguishing system
for PCC structure but mentioned indirectly as NFPA 850 is
one of the basic references to F.B.D 539 , It's necessary to
address directly to Fire Brigade with a written request in
order to receive explicit approval ASAP
