GENERAL
The GT13E2 is a 50 Hz single shaft gas turbine for application in simple cycle and combined cycle plants. The gas turbine is designed to operate within
the ambient temperature range of 20C to +45C. Below the minimum temperature and for special operating modes the GT can be limited by the
maximum GT power (Maximum generator output). Ambient pressure and humidity is not limited.
A distinction is made between cold and warm starts to protect the components in the hot gas path. The ignition and acceleration fuel flow to idle is
controlled depending on the gas turbine temperature. TAT is used to indicate the temperature of the structure. A hot gas turbine requires less fuel flow for
the same acceleration rate because of remaining heat in the hot section. The heat flow into the structure is lower. Also tip clearances are reduced resulting
in improved efficiency. Tip clearances are smaller at warm start conditions because the casing shrinks faster than the rotor during cool down.

If an intended start up of the GT fails, the start up failure shall be analyzed. To support this analysis, consult the alarm and sequence of event display as well as the trends
on the operator station. Before any re-start is attempted, the failure of the previous start should be understood and corrected by appropriate measures. Log events and
actions taken in an operator logbook and save relevant data and records for later use and reference.

SU-START UP
To put the GT in service, proceed as following:
Check the BOP if main and auxiliary circulating pumps are running ,instrument air compressor
Go to OS mimic display GT OVERVIEW
In the section GT STATUS checks for indication GT SEQ PROG REL. The indication STUCRIT shows the release criterias.
In the section ACKNOWLEDGE initiate TRIPON, PLS/T ON and DRV/GRP ON to reset all trips, PLS and disturbed signals.
Select desired fuel for ignition, propane gas or natural gas (if no selection is made, propane gas is pre-selected for ignition); see below.
Confirm that all pre-start checks have been carried out and the results are satisfactory.
In the section GT AUTO PROGRAM initiates GT SEQR DEACTIVATE ON to start the GT sequencer
Select IDLE ON in the section GT AUTO PROGRAM, if no synchronization of the generator breaker is desired.
GT SEQR shows the active step number.
If OBJECT DISPLAY is selected (press right mouse button)

Ignition Fuel Selection:

Go to OS mimic display FUEL GAS SUPPLY (FIG 3):
Initiate DESELECT GAS ON or SELECT GAS ON in the section IGNITION to ignite with propane or natural gas.
The start sequence begins with the start and function check of several systems (lube oil, power oil, hydraulic trip unit, etc.). In addition all valves (blowoff valves, fuel control valve, drain/relief valve, trip valve, ignition system valves, etc.) are adjusted to the required start position. When the feedback
signals indicate sufficient oil pressure, the VIGVs are in the VIGV start-up position and the rotor is free to rotate (via the rotor barring system) the SFC
is turned on and acceleration begins. At the same time, the generator cooling is activated. If in the course of executing the individual starting steps the
required conditions are not achieved within the permitted tolerance times the alarm TIME SUPERVISION FAULT appears and the program stops at the
actual step.
When the conditions for the current step are met, the GT sequencer will continue automatically. The GT will start up automatically until reaching the
predefined load set point
start counts on the Operating Data Counter (ODC) as soon as the flame of the EV burner is established and the blow off valves are closed. The plant
has more than one gas turbine and a start procedure has to be defined depending on the number of gas turbines and static starting devices.

Power Augmentation with Water

Power augmentation water can only be selected when following conditions are met:
GT on fuel gas operation

MBU31

WATER SYSTEM,

DISTRIBUTION

Temperature controller ACTIVE

VIGV in VIGV open position
Water purge not ACTIVE
The turbine inlet temperature has to be reduced, relative to TIT base load gas operation, because of
the increased heat transfer to the hot gas path parts with water injection.
If the unit is de-loaded below base load, power augmentation will be turned off automatically.
The demineralised water is injected through the NOx water injection system.
Power Augmentation on fuel gas isproviding a maximum power increase of roughly 10% at highest water
to fuel ratio .
In addition there is an increase in gas consumption of 5 20 %.
To turn on the power augmentation, proceed as following:
Go to OS mimic display GT OVERVIEW.
Initiate GROS ACT in the section SETPOINTS and insert the target load set point through
the keyboard which isat least 20 MW higher then the current base load
Confirm by OK or ENTER on the keyboard.
Go to the OS mimic display GT OVERVIEW
Initiate PWR AUG ON in the section GT AUTO PROGRAM
Once the FG is activated the GT will load to the load set point as far as is allowed within the omega limits.
To deactivate the power augmentation:
Go to the OS mimic display GT OVERVIEW
Initiate PWR AUG OFF in the section GT AUTO PROGRAM
