Binder Organization System Description: In an effort to support your success in this class I do require that you use a binder to keep all your work together. This binder will be organized in a specific way and these standards will be more thoroughly explained in class. The main goal of this system is to develop skills of organization and to create a central location for the course work for this class. Hopefully, this will help you keep track of the materials necessary for this class and support your success in this class. Your binder will be periodically checked by me and graded based on neatness, organization, and completeness of content. Organization: Your history binder will be divided into six (6) sub-section, each with a labeled divider. Each subsection will be labeled according to the units of study for this class. o Subsections: Introduction, Colonies + Revolutionary War, Early Republic, Government, Westward Expansion, and Civil War. Each subsection will hold graded and completed work. We will use a portion of one class each week to return work and maintain binder organization use this time well! If you are keeping a universal binder with work from your other classes which you bring to school daily. Then you are required to keep the unit we are currently working on in that binder and maintain a consistently high level of organization for that binder. I will model for you what I am looking for in each section for 5s in binder checks and binder collections. If you ever have questions about the level of completion of your binder, please ask! If you would like to leave your history binder in my class from day-to-day, that is fine. However, you will be expected to take it home on days when you have homework failure to do so will not be an acceptable excuse for not submitting your homework. Grade: Binder Checks: Binder checks are how your binder will be assessed. We will be spending time working on your binder organization in class. This grade will be part of your lifelong learning skills grade. It will be checked at least once a trimester, maybe more. If you ever need help putting your binder together, gathering supplies for your binder, or maintaining its organization, please ask!
