What are the six primary roles that information systems play in organizations? (1/2
point each)

How are information systems used in each role you identified above? (1/2 point
each)

1.the management works in three major areas how it is designed, operates and how can it
be improved.
2. The department that deals with the customers that buys or gets a subscription there is
an IS which uses a CRM, which is customer relationship management system. This system is
used to help the company stay interacted with their clients.
3. Software Like SQL Business Intelligent would be used to store data which decisions
can be made from, by the entered data and not on a feeling to make a decision.
4. Game designers, for example, use a team or multiple teams and the head of each team
comes to the meeting and work together (collaborate) to get the game to work, for example,
maybe an alien had to walk differently the team that the game developer is in would all get
together and collaborate on how to get that problem fixed. There is collaboration software for
long-distance teamwork.
5. Companies like Microsoft & Apple had advantages, for example, Bill Gates had
MSDOS while Steve Job was iMac, iPhone, and iPads was the advantage. At times, they were in
front of other businesses of their time and still have advantages today.
6. technology can be used to improve a person's productivity, from apps (custom made to
generic), are used. Even log your work through a smartphone.

How is data different from information? (1 point)

Data is only a piece of information. Information is a collection of data which shows a


big picture of a person, place or thing.

How is information different from knowledge? (1 point)
My understanding is knowledge is understanding of the information and data entered.

Provide an example of: (1 point each)


a. for example, a single data entered by a Facebook user when (s)he adds in a single
post this is considered data.
b. When a Facebook user adds multiple data then it becomes information for
example if I just typed in Patterson, NJ without a name there would be only an
input of data however if William Wilson Whitman Birthplace Patterson, NJ, this is
where the single pieces of data become information for William Wilson Whitman,
and if more data would be added like Hometown Lafayette, NJ, the data would
make a fuller base of information.
c. knowledge is the ability to understand the data and processes to make them
available to become information.

Describe each component. (1/2 point each)
1. People: When it deals with Content Management System (CMS) Administrators,
Authors, and Editors can post information on the website, as well as the Viewers
who could comment on the posts or vote on it. Facebook for another

up and sometimes upgraded to keep up with the times.
3. Processes: In the IS they use a business process to consolidate the processes to
keep and remove the unnecessary business processes.

What is the role of the chief information officer? (1 point)


(S)he is held responsible and overlooks, manages, and keeps up with the
Information System and its security keeping the information secure.

How do information systems offer promises to organizations? (1 point)


All data is stored electronically and is easy to pull up instead of going to a room of
dedicated filing cabinets and have to search manually for the information the person
is looking for. IS they can look on the system instead of looking in that room full of
filing cabinets.
What are some of the perils of information systems? (1 point)
It is much more vulnerable to hacks and getting information than the old file cabinets.
What are two of the many ethical questions associated with the use of information
systems? (2 points)
1. Who is the person that will be held responsible for the information leakage?
2. Netiquette: how to redefine behavioral etiquette, for information systems?

9. According to the video, What is an Information System, what is an information


system? (1 point)
It is a way for our world to create, store and to process the data, which could be
medical, emails, Facebook, Educational Institutions. And can be accessed by those with the
permission to view them.

10. According to the descriptions of IT in the video, What is (IT) Information


Technology, how do you use information technology in your day-to-day life? (1 point)
This is centered more on the hardware modems, routers, hard drives etc.
11. According to the video, What is Computer Science? what two fields are at the root of
computer science? (1 point)
Is focused more on algorithms and math
12. After viewing the videos, Information Systems Jobs & Career Options, Information
Technology Career Pathways, and Computer Science Grads: Here's 5 Jobs to Look At,
what field do you plan to pursue in your degree program? Why? (2 points)
Game Design and I may look into software development as well.
