Im so happy to be here. Ive come a long way!
Today we are going to have a great party! There will be music,
of food at St. Patrick's Day party,'

'Who's Liam the Leprechaun?'

'Every St. Patrick's Day Liam the Leprechaun appears with a pot of gold
hand and a stout oak club in the other.

'If someone catches him, he has to give them his pot of gold. But
caught him yet. So keep your eye out, Cousin.'

When they got to the house, Aunt Brid and Uncle Fergal were very

'Children, we have a very important job for our very important guest.
'We need you to fill this basket with shamrocks. The three-leaved

plant is the symbol of St. Patrick himself, and we couldn't have the
party
without it.'

Jack went into the woods to look for shamrocks. He looked and he
he didn't see any shamrocks at all.

JACK

'They must be around here somewhere,'

He went deeper and deeper into the woods.

The woods got thicker. The woods got darker.

Jack was about to give up when he looked at the ground - and saw
everywhere! He would have the basket filled in no time.

JACK

Look at all these shamrocks! I can quickly fill in the basket and give it
Brid. She will be so happy!

LIAM

'Tee-hee-hee! To-ho-ho!'

JACK

'What was that?' I cant see anything!

LIAM

'Tee-hee-hee! To-ho-ho!'

Jack turned and saw a little man with a red beard in a green suit and a
hat. And the little man had a wooden club in one hand and a pot of gold

in the
other.

'You must be Liam the Leprechaun!' That pot of gold will be mine if I catch

LIAM

'Tee-hee-hee!' To-ho-ho!' Catch me if you can!

JACK

'Hey! Hold on! Stop. Dont run away. Give me your gold!

Jack chased Liam the Leprechaun out of the woods. He chased him
fields, over the streams and all the way back to the village.
Jack jumped over a wall, and suddenly...CRASH!

Jack, where are you going when there is a party waiting at home?'
'I was trying to catch a leprechaun,'
'Leprechauns? Oh Dear! 'Don't you have better things to do today
after imaginary creatures? Don't you know what today is? It's St.

Patrick's
Day!'' March 17 is the day of the biggest celebration of Ireland!'
'Now, stop fooling around and come with me.'
JACK
UNCLE FERGAL

But.Uncle Fergal
'The whole town is getting ready for St. Patrick's Day!
There's Mrs Murphy baking the traditional soda bread. And Mr.
O'Brien is getting the children ready for the parade. Miss Fitzgerald

is knitting
a special green sweater. Green is the national color of Ireland, you
know.'

Everyone wears green on St. Patricks Day! If you dont wear green
on that
day , you will be pinched!
JACK

'But what about leprechauns?' 'What about pots of gold?'

UNCLE FREGAL

'Oh, you silly mouse! 'There are no such thing as leprechauns.'

JACK

'There he is!

LIAM

'Tee-hee-hee! To-ho-ho!'
( Liam yells, trips and falls down)

JACK

Got ya!
( Jack grabs Liams arm. Liam laughs)

SEAN

'Don't you recognize your own cousin?'

(Jack looks closer. Sean stops laughing)
'We're late for the party!

Off they ran picking as many shamrocks as they could find along
When they got to the house, the party was just starting. There

was music
and dancing and lots of food. They mayor played traditional St.
Patrick's
Day song and everyone clapped.
