Question 2
Read the following text. Then, answer questions (a) (j).

The Earths atmosphere is divided into five layers. The layer nearest to the
surface is the thickest. The layers thin out as it goes further from the surface.
Eventually, the atmosphere merges into space.
The first layer is above the surface. It is called the troposphere. This layer
contains half of the earths surface. Weather happens in this layer. The second
layer of the earths atmosphere is called stratosphere. Aeroplanes fly in this layer
because it is stable. Ninety percent of the ozone is found here. The ozone absorbs
the harmful rays of the sun.
The third layer is called the mesosphere. Meteors or rock fragments entering
earths atmosphere will burn up in this layer. The following layer is the
thermosphere. The space shuttle orbits in this layer. The last layer of the fifth
layer is the furthest from earths surface. This layer is called the exosphere. This
layer is extremely thin. It is the layer that merges into space.

Question 5

Read the poem carefully. Then, answer questions (a) (d).

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Leisure

By William Henry Davies

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like stars at night.
No time to turn at Beautys glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich the smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is, if full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
