works perfectly together, and if anything
ever breaks down, youll have to corner
the individual resellers or distributors of
the faulty parts to get them replaced.
You probably wont get doorstep service,
and you certainly wont have a service
center to phone up. The only other minor
downside is that you might not get as
A BRANDS PERSPECTIVE
CHIP caught up with Zenith Computers
Executive Director, Devita Saraf, to get a
few questions answered. She reveals her
companys approach to after-sales
support and to meeting its customers
needs.
Branded
Branded PCs offer unmatchable
documentation and after-sales service.
Depending on the brand, you can
contact their helpdesks via phone or
email, or have someone come to your
house. Many companies now serve rural
areas of India as well as the metros. You
have one central place to go to when
anything goes wrong, and you can often
even have parts replaced on the spot.
Besides that, you have the assurance
that all the parts inside your computer
have been tested extensively and are
known to work together perfectly. Even
if the parts are low-powered, theyll
usually be of high quality, since it costs a
lot more for them to service and replace
cheap parts than to use decent ones in
the rst place.
You also get a lot of variety when it
comes to shapes and sizes. Brands are
experimenting with all kinds of colors
and designs, so you denitely dont have
to settle for a staid beige box. The build
quality will be excellent, and even the
keyboard and mouse will match the
overall design.
When buying a branded PC, its very
easy to be misled by a salesperson.
Especially if youre shopping in
an electronics store or non-techy
environment, chances are either the
salespeople wont know what theyre
