School
Dear .
Over the past seven years, my varied teaching and teaching related
experiences, as an occasional teacher for TDSB, teacher candidate, classroom
assistant, tutor, and camp unit head have come to shape who I am as an
educator. My desire for an inclusive, positive learning environment is at the
core of what I stand for. A positive learning environment is a classroom that
respects children, gives them guidance and encouragement, allows them to
try out new ideas without fear of failure, builds their self-confidence, and
nurtures a love of learning.
My determination to create a positive learning environment for my students,
combined with my sound pedagogical knowledge and teaching experience
make for a classroom that radiates success. My strong classroom management
skills, and my high energy and motivation, work towards implementing this
environment. My standards and values are represented in my classroom and
remain consistent so students know what to expect and what is expected of
them. I encourage open communication in my classroom, allowing students to
share their ideas, beliefs, and opinions in a non-judgmental way. I believe our
first priority as teachers is to make the classroom fit the student; not the
student fit the classroom. Likewise, my experiences in schools and camps with
children who have exceptionalities, such as mild intellectual disabilities,
developmental learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD, have given me deeper
understanding about how to work collaboratively with others, and how to
work with all children to provide learning experiences that are enjoyable and
beneficial to their learning.
I strongly believe that the role of a teacher is not one-sided, and that we
continuously learn from our students. The student-teacher relationship is one
that should be valued and appreciated, and should ultimately work in unison.
Similarly, the parent-teacher rapport is one that is imperative for student
success, and I create partnerships with parents in order to support my
students as much as possible.
My involvements in teaching-related and professional development
opportunities demonstrate my range of flexibility, diversity and desire to have
a wide variety of experiences. I believe that these opportunities add to my
knowledge in the field and provide me with insight in ways to grow and
improve as an educator. I infuse technology into my lessons whenever possible
and am particularly interested in continuing to expand my knowledge in this
ever-growing area. I believe it is essential to stay up to date with curriculum
and resources.
While I am dedicated to my students inside of the classroom, I am also willing
and eager to contribute to the school environment outside of the classroom
through programming and extracurricular activities. I have participated in
executing track and field days, walking club, and school wide concerts. I
believe that involvement in activities and programs outside of the classroom is
important for both teachers and students alike.

I am eager and appreciative of the opportunity to discuss my application at

your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Nadine Block
