The Milk Chocolate

The Lesson

This book teaches that no matter what skin color you have you are beautiful,
everyone is different and that is ok!
This book is for ages 8-12.
Students will learn that they are all different from one another, but that they
are all equally beautiful.

A boy named BJ who has tan skin is being picked on at school.


Other children are calling him milk chocolate kid.
BJ goes to his art teacher to talk about his frustrations and she sends him
home with a note for his parents.
His parents read the note and explain to him that he is the way he is as he
has one white parent and one black parent, they explain to him that no
matter what his skin color is he is beautiful.
BJ gains confidence and is now honored to be called the milk chocolate kid.

Questions/Class Discussion

Activity 1

Each student will be given 2 pieces of blank paper and will fold them into a
book.
With provided pencils and crayons students will create a booklet about
themselves and what they look like.
Students will illustrate themselves on the title page. Within the book
students will tell their age and describe their personalities and their looks.

Activity 2

Each student will be given a coloring page with a different cartoon person to
color.
After coloring their person however they like they will cut their drawing out.
When everyone is finished the students will put all their drawings together.
The drawings will be made into a chain of people to be hung up in the
classroom.
