Kawasaki Heavy Industries

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Limited is an international corporation based in Japan. It

has headquarters in both Ch-ku, Kobe and Minato, Tokyo Kawasaki Heavy
Industries, Ltd. (KHI) is engaged in building transportation systems for the 21st
century, and in doing so, is utilizing the wealth of technological know-how it has
accumulated over the past 100 years. The ship building division has led the world in
producing ever larger, ever faster, increasingly automated ships. It is constantly
striving to find ways to increase ship manufacturing and navigation efficiency while
conserving energy. So far, the quest has resulted in the development of Liquid
Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, high-speed ships and other future-oriented marine
technologies.
By applying aviation principles, a Jetfoil that speeds above the water at an amazing
45 knots is one project that has become reality. Kawasaki led Japan's shipbuilding
consortium formed to build the Techno-Superliner. This exciting new vessel is
planned to carry a payload of approximately 1,000 tons and travel at a cruising
speed of 50 knots.
Kawasaki is supplying rolling stock for the world-famous Shinkansen bullet train as
well as other trains. The company is now developing a next-generation Shinkansen
that will travel at a top speed of 240 mph. Kawasaki's expertise extends well
beyond simply the development and manufacture of rolling stock. As a systems
integrator, Kawasaki engineers total railway transportation systems, from train
operation control to rolling stock inspection and repair operations.
In the aircraft sector, Kawasaki is engaged in a broad range of activities as a
manufacturer of both aircraft bodies and engines. At present, the company is
manufacturing the Kawasaki-developed MBB K117 helicopter and portions of the
latest passenger aircraft, the Boeing 777. Kawasaki is also an important player in
the project to develop the Supersonic Transport (SST), a plane that will travel at
altitudes of 60,000 to 90,000 feet at a speed of Mach 2.5 and will carry from 200 to
300 passengers. Kawasaki's high-speed transportation technologies also extend
beyond the atmosphere of earth in the new quest to utilize space and its resources

Kawasaki History

Hard work and a dream. That's what established American Kawasaki Motorcycle Corp. way back
in March of 1966. The first headquarters, an old meat warehouse in Chicago, was a humble
beginning for the factory team sent to open the U.S. market. They started with practically nothing
- no customers, no distributors and no image. But they had something more important - a strong
desire to succeed and a promise from the factory to supply the best products. The fledgling
entrepreneurs negotiated with several private companies around the United States to distribute
the first bikes, which were small two strokes sold under the brand name of Omega. But U.S.
riders wanted more excitement, so the factory quickly responded with a pair of potent rotary
valve twins called the Samurai and Avenger. Here was the first indication that Kawasaki would
become a company specializing in high-performance fun.

Why Kawasaki stopped its Production in

Pakistan
The Kawasaki production was banned / discontinued (per my info) in 1992-93 so the
last models came in were 93-94. Since its almost 14-15 year so the bikes disappear
or are in lesser amount.
Also because of petrol prices we can only see lots of CD-70's on road.

Different aspects as compared to other manufacturers are as below

1) Relatively more fuel consumption
2) Slightly high price
3) Spare parts were bit expensive because of unavailability of local parts & due to
rapid change in models and they were not Eco friendly bikes at that time.
Just in 10 Years (Example in 100CC category are 100 Sports, 100 Super, 100 ELS,
100 ESX, & GTO 100). while the counter part Yamaha YB 100 is still running with
same Parts & Chassis etc.
4) Above mentioned factors leads towards poor resale of brand & we all know that
poor resale means no or minute existence in next 10 years
It was first located in Sakhakot near my village (Badragga, Shergarh) in NWFP but
due to local outrage by some local gangs (Sufi Ameen) and later due to strikes by
workers against low wages it was dismantled and moved to Haripur NWFP, where it
died its slow death due to tax relaxation being taken back and putting a nondeclared ban on GTO-110 and yes, slow sales of GTO-125

Other reason it was very reliable and fast as compared to other bikes at that time
.The robbers used those bikes instead of the other ones Police could not catch those
bikes that is why they forced Kawasaki to stop producing those bikes .They were the
most best bikes ever produced in Pakistan. They people wind up there assembly
plant from Pakistan due to poor response & investment by local partner. While the
other manufacturer luckily got good partner like Atlas & Dawood group etc so they
survive in Pakistani market.

According to the business recorder.s (daily news paper) report at those

times
The second top defaulter after D.G Cement is Saif Nadeem Kawasaki Motors,
Haripur, owing Rs 319.91 million. ID card of Director Aftab Siddiqui is missing. Saif
Nadeem Kawasaki Motors owes loans to the Banking Council and is at present
closed. The customs department has lodged claims of duty arrears with the banking
court. The Banking Tribunal has ordered auction of the unit. It was carried out thrice
but the bid was not up to the mark.
2t models were stopped in development internationally by Japan and most 2t
manufacturers started to build them with in there own countries like in Thailand,
Singapore still 2t Kawasaki are build even in india its avaialble but SKM which used
to import them in Pakistan was it self not capable of doing so and failed to continue
and bike was gone in the history.

Therefore, due to various reasons Kawasaki discontinued in Pakistan and it has been
heard that its again making its return to Pakistan soon. Regarding news, kawasaki
returns back to Pakistani means SAIF NADEEM has been solved the problems related
with tax, custom duty etc.we all welcome them but we all need the same Kawasaki
bikes, which are now part of great history.
i m sure the skmkawasaki will fulfill the thirsty hearts again but skmkawasaki should
aware of market,s demand they will have to represent the same quality which was
being produced in 1988.
