Salary payments for Lecturing staf

Following discussions with the UCU and other staff side associations,
agreement was reached earlier this year to change the salary
arrangements for lecturing staff. Previously, staff received a double
payment in July and then nothing until September. With effect from
this month, staff will receive their normal salary in July and again in
August. There will be no effect on rate of pay or any other aspect of
your remuneration.

Sickness benefit vouchers


With effect from 1 August 2016, the arrangements for the
processing of personal sickness benefit cheques has changed.

Up until now, anyone in receipt of sickness benefit was required to


send the cheques to the Hub. In future, you will be able to retain the
cheque and payroll will deduct an equivalent sum from your pay
between 4 6 weeks following receipt of the cheque. It is hoped that
this will strip out some of the double handling of the cheques and
enable resources at the Hub to be used more effectively.

It is vital that staf report their sickness to Line Managers


for recording in SAP (by emailing their Line Manager over
the Summer break if necessary), and essential that
Managers record this info on SAP. Managers - if you are not
sure of the process, please contact your Manager to ensure
you have the relevant guidance/training.
