savor the foods and sip local brews and wines at Lincoln
Showcase, one of the best attended social events of the

Visitors to Lincoln recognize

and attractions. Lincoln embraces the nostalgic past paired with

Lincoln Mayor
City has a well-planned, longrange strategy that will support
a total population of between 90,000 and 120,000 people with
significant business opportunities at build out. Lincoln has a rich
past and a bright future.
Lincoln hosts the Portuguese Festa (including parades, a sampling of Portuguese foods, and a weekend long carnival) which
occurs five weeks after Easter annually, a huge 4th of July
parade and fireworks show, and a fantastic downtown Holiday
parade and gathering in December.
The Lincoln Regional Airport hosts an Airfest in June for those
interested in aeronautical pursuits. Adjacent to the airport is the
hub of industrial activities which includes nationally and regionally significant businesses such as Gulfstream, Printrbot, Rogers
Family Coffee and Cal ISO. The airport has expansion opportunities for the right type of business.
Lincoln is the prime starting point for enjoying the agricultural amenities of Placer County by hosting a downtown farmers
market through the summer months and being a gathering point
for exploration of the wine and brewing arts in the adjacent
countryside year round.
The entry to Lincoln from Highway 65 onto Lincoln Boulevard
showcases one of the few remaining, active rodeo complexes
in Northern California. This facility hosts high school, semi-professional and professional rodeo events from spring through fall
every year.

activities, come to downtown Lincoln to enjoy a plethora of
shops featuring a number of local businesses and artists who
have graced downtown Lincoln for years. The Art League of

RUNS DEEP IN LINCOLN
Gladding McBean Park has been hosting games for 60 years

Baseball, its Americas favorite summertime sport. It dates back

to 1845, maybe before. Lincolns baseball history runs deep. Workers at the Gladding McBean Clay Factory formed Placer-Nevada
Baseball League which was comprised of eight teams including the
Lincolns own team, The Potters.
The first game at Gladding McBean Park was approximately 60
years ago and the Gladding McBean Park was considered to be the
top field in the league, with its perfectly groomed field, grandstands
and even lights so players could play at night. It was the thing to do
on aFriday night, and often all the towns residents would come out
to the games.
A local resident, Leroy Stevens, was a left-handed pitcher on
the Lincoln Potters from 1950 to 1964 where he pitched to catcher,
Bill Williams. In 1953, the dynamic duo pitched a 55 consecutive
scoreless inning.
In a recent partnership with the City of Lincoln, William Jessup
University is working with the city to renovate McBean Stadium at
McBean Memorial Park. The project will take place in three phases
led by Coastland, a civil engineering and construction management
company of Auburn. This spring the William Jessup Warriors baseball team will call the McBean stadium their home field.
The baseball team at the Rocklin-based university is just two
years old and competes in the Golden State Athletic Conference
(GSAC). The agreement states that there will be a 10-year contract
between the University and City of Lincoln.

too familiar with college baseball regulated field. Hankins spent

his college years playing for University of California Los Angeles
(UCLA), and was soon picked up by the New York Yankees, playing
five years in the Tripe-A league.
Coach Hankins said that recruiting for William Jessup Warriors
has been somewhat difficult because they lacked a home field on
campus. He said that the current William Jessup baseball team plays
only away games in order to play in competition college baseball
leagues.
Hankins said the goal for next season is to play home games at the
new field. He added that it will make recruiting new players much
easier, and a new field is good for the morale of the team.
The revamped NCAA regulated stadium should be completed in
the summer of 2016 with newly installed irrigation, fresh grass in the
outfield, dugouts, and a new electric scoreboard.
Once completed, WJU will have priority on the use of the new
stadium, however they will coordinate with Lincoln Little League,
who will also benefit from the program. Its great for the Warriors and
its great for the community, Hankins said.
Today, William Jessup is recruiting some top players for next
years program. Tim Walgren of Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley
is expected to play first base, as well as catcher at home plate. Walgren received two MVP awards during his high school years.
Having players like Walgren will add to the excitement to the
games that will be played in Lincoln. Hankins said that he is looking forward to the upgraded stadium because it will draw younger
players to watch the game. Having younger players witness college
baseball on an NCAA regulated field will be a bonus for both the
spectator and the players.
I would love to keep kids involved in baseball as long as I can,
and maybe they will even play college ball, Hankins said.
Baseball fans can also look forward to more games at the new
stadium with the prospect of a Lincoln based wooden-bat league
playing at the park. Great West League is a six team league that
recently added a Sacramento based team. The Great West League is
a summer collegiate wood bat league that gives top college players
seeking professional careers an opportunity to play in the summer.
The Sacramento Stealth is the fifth team to join the new summer
college wood-bat league. Other teams include the Chico Heat, the
Lodi Crushers, the Marysville GoldSox, the Portland Pickles, and the
Medford Rogues. Lincoln hopes to be the sixth team added to the
league.

LINCOLN REGIONAL AIRPORT: A unique aviation facility in the
Greater Sacramento region, Lincoln Regional Airport is ideal for
serving the business aviation needs of the Lincoln-Rocklin-Roseville market area. The airport supports frequent transient turbine
aircraft and, as economic activity increases, this activity will
increase. The City and the airport will prepare for the anticipated
increase in activity, and position the airport to become an attractive choice, particularly for turbine aircraft. In addition, the City has

ART LEAGUE OF LINCOLN
FEATS OF CLAY
This year has been a great beginning of the fifth year of operation for the Art
League of Lincoln. The name, Feats of Clay, and the footed pot logo have been
returned to Lincoln. The Feats of Clay event occurred every spring from 1988 to 2011
with what became an international art show and tours of the now 141-year-old factory. The Art League is now working with Gladding McBean, City of Lincoln, High Hand
Nursery, Placer Valley Tourism and Placer County Visitors Bureau to bring back this
event in a new way.
The new year also brought sponsorship in the second installation of the Lincoln
Mural Project with panels by Viktor Verhovod to be located in what is planned to become the Beermann Alley Art Walk. Also, there have been expansions to the ceramic
exhibit, Americas ClayFest, to include displays at Orchard Creek Lodge in Sun City
Lincoln Hills, additional sessions of the summer childrens art camp, as well as adult
classes and a membership card with reusable discounts to over 25 local businesses. The return of Lincoln ClayDay was a great time for every one that was involved
and participation in the Big Day of Giving resulted in almost $9,000 raised for the Art
League.
Jean Cross explains why the Art League is important to Lincoln. The support and
participation of a community in art, in all forms, attracts visitors and new residents,
stimulates the local economy and develops new cultural opportunities for its citizens.
The mission of the Art League of Lincoln is to: CREATE opportunities to CULTIVATE
the talent of all artists, CELEBRATE their work, and COMMUNICATE the significance
of art to the community.

COMMUNITY THEATER SHOWCASED IN LINCOLN

Lincoln Theatre Company, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
calls the Lincoln Civic Auditorium its permanent home. LTC bring
live theatre, music and dance in all forms to our community.
Our youth programs teach theatre etiquette, skills in acting,
backstage, technical in addition to self-confidence, public speaking and poise, all in the form theater.
Our main stage theater productions bring theater enjoyment,
culture and performing arts to our greater community. Our auditioned community chorus The Choristers for ages 17 and up
provides chorale singing experience and two concerts each year.
It is indisputable that Performing Arts creates a healthy and
safe community and raises academic scores in participating
youths. LTC is under contract with the City of Lincoln to enhance
the Civic Auditorium into a first-class performing arts center. We
are on our way to completing the first phase of this plan thanks to
generous donations from local businesses and individual donors.
We were voted Best Non-Profit Organization for 2015.

FARMERS MARKET
From ripe, beautiful tomatoes and succulent squash to seasonal fruits, farmers
markets are a wonderful way to get the
freshest produce available in one convenient
location. At F Street and in the Beermann
Plaza, the Lincoln Area Chamber is host to an
annual Farmers Market held June through
August. Here, the Lincoln community and beyond gathers to select from a wide variety of
seasonal fruits and vegetables straight from
farmers fields to your plate. Consumers are
provided an opportunity to get to know the
farmers and the artisans that create the food
they eat. Besides an array of produce, fresh
fish, honey and baked goods, other products
and services are featured by local and other
merchants. Each week there are two free
drawings for beautiful, bountiful produce
baskets graciously donated by the farmers
and other merchants. The fun continues with
face painting and other activities for the kids,
as well as live bands each week. Theres
something for everyone at the family friendly
Lincoln Chamber Farmers Market!
LINCOLN CHAMBER GOLF COURSES
Play golf in the rolling hills of Lincoln at three local

courses. There are two 18-hole courses located within
Del Webbs Sun City Lincoln Hills Community. They were
designed by Billy Casper/Greg Nash, and create two
distinct 18-hole layouts with traditional out-and-back
configurations. The Lincoln Hills Golf Club is privately
owned by Billy Casper and is open to the public.
At Turkey Creek, there are three distinct yet constant
environmental signatures of the course: The rolling
oaks woodlands on the front nine, the rugged quarry
area and a back nine that resembles Germanys Black
Forest. You may also see wild animals on the course
such as wild turkey, deer and plenty of birds. This par 72,
18-hole course is the newest championship course in the
foothills. Whether you are a scratch golfer or a weekend
warrior, Turkey Creek brings the tour experience to your
game.
Catta Verdera encompasses a par-71 championship
course designed by Richard Phelps with renovation in
2003 by noted designer and PGA Tour Player Brad Bell.
Catta Verdera is the only four and a half-star private
course in Northern California. Catta Verdera is open to

Each year the Rotary Club of Lincoln, in
collaboration with the Downtown Lincoln
Association, presents the Lincoln Wine Fest.
Last year all 21 Placer County Wineries participated offering tastings in the downtown
Lincoln retail locations paired with delicious
food from Lincoln restaurants and other
food providers. Participants can finish off at
Beermanns Plaza with live music, craft and
specialty vendors, prizes and the opportunity
to buy wine by the bottle.
COMMUNITY PARADES
Parades have long been a part of the history of Lincoln, and the Lincoln Area Chamber of
Commerce is keeping these traditions alive and strong in our community. The Chamber hosts two
parades annually, the Independence Day parade and the Holiday parade.
The Independence Day parade, commemorating the formation of our country, is celebrated
on the 4th of July, This is a day filled with patriotic events, fun for families and is capped with a
spectacular fireworks display at McBean Park.
Our Holiday Parade, celebrated in December, is an annual celebration that is community
oriented and family focused. The parade is followed with music in Beermann Plaza in downtown
Lincoln and concludes with the tree lighting ceremony.
These yearly traditions have been a part of the Lincoln culture for generations. Join us at
these events to celebrate and experience a sense of community and fellowship that brings our
community together.

Thunder Valley takes things to the next level.
It was announced in February that they are moving forward with a
build-out construction project that stalled out due to financial strains
after the initial remodel in 2010.
Thunder Valley Casino owner, United Auburn Indian Community,
originally envisioned a 23-story tower with 624 rooms but was downsized,
however, and the construction project was halted for six years.
Three main floors the third, fifth and sixth floors were left uncompleted during the hotels initial luxury expansion. Growing competition from
other local casinos prompted United Auburn Indian Community to up
their game and continue on with the unfinished project. The $40-million
project will feature design improvements and new innovations which will
only add to the already AAA 4-Diamond experience.
Currently the hotel features 17 floors with 297 rooms including 40
suites. The new project will add 111 new rooms to the existing one,
which most often sells out. Thunder Valley stated thatthe original rooms
will also receive upgrading.
Thunder Valley features 14 restaurants and bars that continue to draw
guests for the top quality dining experience.
Guests wont be affected by the construction project as it progresses
through the phases. Thunder Valley ensures guest will still be able to
enjoy their favorite beverage at the poolside Coconut Bar, or take in a day
at the spa.
With new construction comes anabundant of new jobs for locals that
ultimately supports the local community. Roseville-based contractor, Flint
Builders will take the helm once again during the build out project. In
2010, Flint Builders remodeled the High Steaks Steakhouse making it an
elite dining option in Lincoln.

Beermanns will feature locally sourced ingredients for our
seasonally changing menus and beer selections.
Chef Matt Azevedo, a former culinary instructor, comes to us
most recently from V Miller Meats in Sacramento. Prior to that,
Matt had stints at Restaurant Thir13en in Sacramento, Chez
Panisse in Berkeley, Ad Hoc and Redd in Yountville. Chef Matt,
has been working closely with the team to create a menu that
features locally sourced ingredients in applications that make
them shine. His menu features house-made mozzarella for our
salads and pizzas, house-made bacon and sausages, and a
focus on cooking from scratch.
Our menu changes seasonally featuring the best ingredients
available at the time and with Chef Matts passion and creativity for quality ingredients and preparation methods, you will
find that our casual menu will beg you to come back and try the
other items before they are gone for the season.
We are also happy to host your weddings, dinner parties, and
corporate events from 10 to 200 people in our private dining
rooms and Grand Ballroom.

Lincoln residents and the surrounding areas have a variety of

choices when it comes to creating a health plan. Getting your body
healthy is no longer just a trip to the general medical doctor. With
options like farmers market, Ripped Fitness, FireStar Yoga Studio
and chiropractic care creating homeostasis, a body in balance, can
be done in just a few stops in town.
Osteopathic Physician John Posten at Sutter Health Osteopathic Physician on Twelve Bridges Road, said that there is value in
practicing traditional medicine as well as a natural approach to
medicine.
Osteopathic doctors study hands on manipulation, similar to
chiropractic care, during the first few years of medical school. The
philosophy for a DO is a bit different than with an MD as its more of
a whole person approach to medicine, keeping within the mind body
spirit approach. Dr. Posten said that they still prescribe medicine to
patients.
My focus as a family practitioner is that I enjoy treating the
youngest patients to the oldest, and I enjoy womans health issues,
in office procedures, Dr. Posten said.
Posten said that the goal of an osteopath is to reduce medications
by using or adding natural practices that include diet, exercise, and
even natural modalities such yoga which has been proven to reduce
stress. He added that a recent study completed by the American
Academy of Family Physicians stated that patients with acute lower
back pain who take regular classes by a certified Pilates instructor
can help reduce the amount of back pain medications.
Dr. Posten said he always practices what he preaches in creating
a wellness plan.
Yoga is a great way to enhance the bodys wellbeing and across
town is FireStar Yoga studio. Instructor Renee Airola of FireStar
Yoga said that when you take yoga you are relaxing the body and
mind which can help the body fight off ailments.
Theres no age limit for doing yoga according to Airola.We have
students that come over from the high school who take a class and

dents, Airola said. She added that there are senior citizen clients
who come in that have seen improved mobility since attending
classes.
Josh Longo, DC, chiropractor in Lincoln, sees the value each
day with these clients when he see them for adjustments. Longo
said that regular chiropractic adjustments have helped them in
their mobility. According to Longo, every cell, organ and tissue
is controlled by the nervous system which is protected by the
spine.He added when the spine becomes restricted it inhibits the
body from healing.
Dr. Josh said that the power that made the body is also the power that heals the body. If parts of the spine are misaligned then that
causes interference in the nervous system, encouraging the spine
to realign and function properly will add to the healing process.
He said people should get their spine checked out like they do
their teeth and blood pressure. Preventative healthcare can pave
the way for prolonging ailments in the body. Once pain has taken
over, conditions become harder to fix, Dr. Josh said.
Its preventative maintenance, and chiropractors try to restore
function to the movable joints in the spine for optimum nerve signal
transmission.

Austin Lindemann, of River Rock Ranch Lindemann Winery, began making wine in 2006 to
honor his wife who had passed away.The couple
enjoyed their wine-tasting hobby, and so it only
seemed fitting to Lindemann to honor his late wife
by creating blends that she would probably enjoy.
These days, Lindemann Winery has well
over 600 vines on the family ranch that include
varietals such as Barbera, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. Along with the other varietals, the
award-winning winemaker created two blends,
Rio Rose wines and Rio Dansa.
Lindemann strongly values the use of sustainable practices, including maintaining, pruning,
and picking their vines by hand as well as never
using chemical fertilizers.
After winning many silver and bronze medals
as a home wine maker, he won a gold medal in
2010, and thats when he decided to become a
commercial winery. Lindemann Winery bottles
700 cases per year that can only be purchased
directly from the winery.
The winery is open for private tastings and
parties of up to 20 people. On weekends they are
open from 12pm to 4pm.

We were rated the best wedding venue from Sacramento to Tahoe
in The Knot wedding publication, which were very proud of, says

hard to win it, first of all, and then to do two years back to back, were

broad line of solid carbide cutting tools.
RobbJack Corporation engineers, manufactures, and sells solid
carbide cutting tools. It offers solid carbide end mills and slitting
saws, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and PCD diamond-tipped
routers, PCD drills, engraving tools, and accessories. PCDstand
forPolycrystallineDiamond: PCD are normally made by bonding/
fusing many micro-size single diamond crystals at high temperature and high pressure.
They also provide physical vapor deposition coating services
and offer tools for aluminum, titanium, steel and high-temp alloys,
composites and plastics, die/mold and hardened materials, miniatures, and saw applications. RobbJack cutting tools are used
in machining centers for various applications, such as cutting
the cutting portions of the Space Shuttle and at Tesla to cut their
carbon fiber parts. RobbJack is a pioneer in creating solutions
in carbon fiber cutting, a costly material that can split when not
done properly.
Mark MacArthur, RobbJack Vice Presidents of Sales and VP of
Engineering, said they make application specific cutting tools, for
aluminums, plastics, new industry materials as well.
According to McArthur, going into a dental office for a crown
replacement can be done in the same day. The dentist will 3D
scan the tooth needing repair. The specialist will then use a tool
from RobbJack to cut a new crown from composite material and
the patient can leave the same day with a new tooth,
RobbJack was established in 1959 and moved from the Bay
Area to Lincoln in 1990. In that move, 43 of 46 employees moved
to Lincoln with the company where they would continue their
careers. RobbJack now has 95 employees who also have a stake
as shareholders in the company.Many employees have worked at
the company for several years including Rob Taylor who has been
with the company for 28 years.
When the original owners sold the company, they wanted
employees to have ownership. Thats when RobbJack ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), was created which provides the
employees a hand in how the company succeeds.

Our employees have a voice in our product and company
which keeps them employed here, MacArthur said.
RobbJack not only creates opportunities for their employees,
they are also generous with their time and donations to the community. RobbJack contributes to local schools in their technology
departments and supports local non-profit organizations.
And many children in the community have small hand-held flags
distributed by RobbJack employees at our Fourth of July parades.
