Let me take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful

time that I had in Kuala Selangor and Frasers Hill. I was
impressed by your focus on customer service. It appeared
that customer service comes naturally to you. Your attention
for details was amazing. Within that short span of time, I could
watch and photograph and number of species of birds and
monkeys. Before coming to Malaysia, I had never
photographed sunbirds. With you on my side, I felt that
photographing such a fast species became easier. Thanks for
all your help. Keep in touch.

Thank you for a great 3 days together. I

have tremendous respect for your
knowledge, enthusiasm and tireless effort to
find the birds. In addition you are a
wonderful person, I very much enjoyed our
time together over and above the birding. I
wish you great success, I would highly
recommend persons make use of your
services and I hope to do the same again
myself. I do hope I get a chance to return
and I will definitely arrange some time with
you.
- Daniel, USA

Thank you for an outstanding 5 days of

bird/butterfly watching and nature
photography. Your knowledge of birds was
excellent, and I greatly appreciate your
attention to the smallest details of the trip. I
also appreciate your enthusiasm around
natural history in general. My favorite was the
Sunda Colugo (flying lemur) - I never knew
such an animal existed, and this supposedly
noctural creature was delightfully active for
us.
- Roger, North Carolina, USA

We had a great time. Thanks for your organizational skills - the whole trip was seamless from
our pickup at the airport to the return to KL. I had 100 lifers including some great birds like
Rhinoceros Hornbill, Red-bearded Bee-eater, Brown Wood Owl, 5 species of Trogons, and 5
species of Broadbills.
- Steve, Australia

We enjoyed every minute of our trip with you. Not only was your organisational skills
superb but your field knowledge was also excellent. The effort you have put into our trip
was noticed and we appreciated your support and assistance. We will most certainly
recommend you as a guide and when we are back in Malaysia will certainly make use of
your services again. Keep on laughing.
- Johan & Laurette, South Africa

Thank you very much for your guiding and driving. Much appreciated and very much
enjoyed. Interestingly there is quite a large number of the birds we saw in Frasers Hill that i
didn't see later in Thailand. Tony, UK

We hired Weng Chun to take us to Kuala Selangor Nature Park. We had visited there
before on our own but wanted a guide this trip to help us in bird spotting and
identification and to take us to other spots nearby. Weng Chun met and exceeded our
expectations for the trip. He met us promptly at the cruise terminal (an accomplishment
on its own since we had no information on where the ship would dock and the port is
immense) and we set out in the pouring rain hoping for the weather to get better. It was
still raining when we got to Kuala Selangor but he managed to locate some birds for us
despite the poor conditions. The Common Flameback sighting was worth the trip!! Shortly
after that the weather improved and he took us for a walk through the park where we
had an enjoyable afternoon. On the way back to the ship we stopped at some rice fields
and a river estuary where we spotted an Adjutant Stork. We had a great day with him. He
was professional, well organized and friendly (an all round nice guy). If you want a good
guide when visiting Malaysia we definitely recommend Weng Chun.

As a guide, you are incredibly friendly, always in
good spirits, and just fun to be with. I enjoyed every
minute of our time together. As a birder, your skills
are most impressive. You obviously know your birds
very well I think some of them must be personal
friends, because you are an expert at finding and
identifying them. But what impressed me most was
your wonderful enthusiasm. When you spotted the
Sultan Tit, I thought you were going to explode with
excitement! Its so wonderful to go birding with
someone who shares the same excitement that I
feel. And finally, the fact that you showed me an
incredible 43 lifers in a single day is just plain
amazing. I cant imagine that ever happening
again, so it was a day I will remember all my life.
Thanks for being my guide!
Rob, North Carolina (USA)

We had a really enjoyable short holiday with

you in Malaysia. It was our first time in a
tropical country and beforehand we had
some doubts and worries. These, however,
more or less disappeared when we arrived
thanks to your marvellous organizational
skills. You were great company to be with
and were knowledgeable on a wide range
of wildlife including butterflies (there are
over 1100 species in Malaysia!), mammals
and, of course, birds. You also speak English
almost like a native Brit. Malaysia itself was
fascinating, with some stunning wildlife and
interesting culture. You really helped us to
get the most out of our short stay and were
absolutely flexible, enabling us at short
notice to include the Selangor fireflies in our
itinerary, for example. We have wonderful
memories of our trip and would have no
hesitation in using your services again in the
future. Many thanks indeed and hopefully
see you again sometime!!

My wife and I have just returned from a trip

to Malaysia. Amongst many experiences
was the day we spent birding with Weng
Chun. Our original destination was Kuala
Selangor, but in a phone call, Weng Chun
expressed concerns about the smoke and
smog affecting that area. We settled on
Frasers Hill. We departed KL with a massive
thunderstorm ringing in our ears. Weng
Chun drove conservatively, and with due
consideration for the conditions. It was fine
by the time we arrived at Frasers Hill, and
what a day we had. Weng Chun was
enthusiastic, putting us on to many birds. We
shared a Lifer, with good views of three
Malayan Hill Partridge. Weng Chun was
great fun to be with, a conscientious guide,
and I heartily reccommend him to anyone
planning a trip to Malaysia.

On June 22, 2011 my wife and I went birding with Weng Chun at
Frasers Hill (Bukit Fraser) and environs near Kuala Lumpur in
Malaysia. We had a great birding experience and between my
wife and I compiled a list of 48 species, including 36 lifers. Weng
Chun was a great companion, an excellent birder and is fully
proficient in the English language and we have no hesitation in
recommending him to anyone planning to do birding in the
area.
Rob and Ann Boyd, Kenton on Sea (South Africa)

We thank you for 5 wonderful days of birding. We got really good looks at so many of the
birds because of your patience and hard work. You took advantage of every daylight minute
to find birds and that is what we came for. Of the 150 birds we saw approximately 120 were
new for us. I particularly enjoyed having the time to photograph some of the birds we were
seeing. Some guides do not allocate the time to do this. I have not had a chance to work with
my photographs yet, but I know they are not as good as yours. Thanks for the link and all the
good pictures. While Frasers Hill provided the best birding, we apprecitated the chance to
visit the coastal mangroves of Kuala Selangor and the lowland forest near KL. We hope we
have the opportunity to go birding together again sometime in the future.
Rolf & Gail, Connecticut (USA), November 2011
Thank you for a great 2 days bird watching
in Frasers Hill. We really enjoyed our time
there and your wide knowledge of birds and
the best locations to observe them made our
trip to Malaysia worthwhile and relaxing. We
saw a large number of birds that we had
never seem before and we particularly
enjoyed looked for the Owls in the evening.
We have been on a number of bird trips
previously and the service that you provide is
the most relaxed and enjoyable that we
have experienced. We would have no
hesitation in recommending to you other
people and hope to be able to visit Malaysia
again.

Thanks for providing such a professional birding trip on my recent visit to Kuala Lumpur.
You did an excellent job of finding representative habitats to visit which were always
productive for new and exciting birds. I found your knowledge of local bird species to be
accurate, and insightful. I particularly appreciated how you were able to guide me
through the Putrajaya constructed wetland complex, which enriched my visit beyond
simply adding birds to a life list. Your patience and thoughtful approach to developing
and adapting the tour as we proceeded gave me a lot to experience and learn about.
Finally, I felt that your generosity with your time, digital imagery taken during the trip, and
general regional knowledge, all combined to place you in a category above and
beyond guide, and I thank you for that. To any birder planning a visit to Malaysia: I
strongly recommend that you consider Weng Chun as your guide. You will learn greatly
from this knowledgeable expert on Malaysian avifauna. But you will have fun too: Weng
Chun is highly personable, easy to travel with, and very responsible. I enjoyed my birding
tour with Weng Chun immensely and I look forward to the next opportunity.
Jim, Florida (USA), November 2011
Kate and I had a fantastic five days birding led by Weng Chun and his friend Adam.
Weng Chun proved to be a remarkably able birder with a fantastic ear for bird calls and
during the five days we saw over 200 birds in the three locations. The trip was very well
organised and Weng Chuns knowledge of the sites enabled us to get good views of
many lifers. He and Adam were also both very good and patient companions whose
company we enjoyed immensely. The food and accommodation were excellent. I
would recommend anyone visiting Malaysia to go birding with Weng Chun and look
forward to birding with him again. Chris & Kate, Dorset (UK), January/February 2012

For those of you who are looking for a birding guide to Peninsular Malaysia, you cant
go wrong with Cheong Weng Chun. He is knowledgeable, organized and passionate
about birding and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip with him. He is very knowledgeable in
all aspects of the natural history of Malaysia and he introduced us to the local Malaysian
culture. We had the opportunity to travel to Singapore during Christmas week 2011 and
visit Peninsular Malaysia in the first week of 2012. Being avid birders, we wanted to spend
some quality time in Malaysia birding. After much internet searching and advice from
fellow birders, I found Weng Chun and our adventure began. Weng Chun met us at the
Kuala Lumpur International Airport early on a January morning, and before we knew it
we were off on what turned out to be a very successful five-day trip. Our first stop was at
Paya Indah Wetland where we had a good start with many birds that are fairly common
in Malaysia but entirely new to us. Highlights were the Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Greyheaded Fish Eagle, and Chestnut-winged Cuckoo. Then off to Kuala Selangor and the
paddy fields, where we spent several hours finding raptors, munia, swallows, swifts and
many others. The highlight of this area for us were the Cinnamon Bittern, the large flock of
white-headed munia and the multitudes of Black-shouldered Kites. At the Taman Alam
Nature Reserve, we explored mangroves and found Greater Flameback Woodpecker,
Mangrove Blue Flycatcher and Mangrove Whistler. The next two and a half days found
us in Frasers Hill, a welcome respite from the lowland heat. This delightful area was not
only picturesque and beautiful, but we found many many birds here. Highlights included
Red-bearded Bee-eater, Yellow-vented Green-pigeon, Green Magpie, Slaty-backed
Forktail, Lesser Shortwing, Pygmy Wren-babbler, Rufous Piculet, Great Hornbill, Asian Fairybluebird and too many others to mention. We then spent one more day in the Hulu
Langat area, birding along back roads and in a lowland forest reserve, where we found
Crow-billed Drongo, Hodgsons Hawk-Cuckoo, Temmincks Sunbird, and Black-andYellow Broadbill. All in all we identified 197 birds during our time with Weng Chun, greatly
exceeding our expectations. And best of all we made a new friend. We heartily
recommend visiting Malaysia and employing Weng Chun as your guide.
Sue & Ed, Massachusetts (USA), January 2012

I can say unequivocally that in a birding trip

guided by Weng Chun, one is almost
guaranteed to see a great diversity of birds of
Malaysia. Weng Chun obviously has immense
knowledge of the avifauna of Penisular
Malaya. Over a 5 day road trip he introduced
me to many of the major birding hotspots in his
home turf around the Kuala Lumpur/Kuala
Selangor area. The itinerary he mapped out
covered a diverse mix of habitats which
included coastal mangrove wetlands, brackish river basins, secondary tropical forests, paddy
fields, and the montane forests of Frasers Hill and Bukit Tinggi. At almost every one of these
locations, I not only saw a great variety of representative species associated with the
respective habitats (plus occasional out-of-place species as well), but amazingly, also had
long close looks at them, including those notoriously difficult-to-view tiny and fidgeting birds
from the Flycatcher, Sunbird, and Tailorbird species. For this, I have Weng Chuns incredible
birding skill to thank for. He has an almost uncanny ability in locating the birds he targets at
any given habitat and is super fast as well in spotting, and scoping, the birds. Weng Chuns
passion for birds is so acute that it is plainly infectious, and as such, he and his co-guide and
driver Adam, were both great fun and good company on the road. I would highly
recommend Weng Chun as a guide to any avid birders, especially if they are also in the
twitchers category, because he will comb through the entire forest just to get you that one
more bird to go !
Siewlin, Massachusetts (USA), February 2012
We were very pleased with our June
2012 5-day birding and nature tour of
Malaysia under your leadership. My wife
loves woodpeckers and was very pleased
that you made a concerted effort to find
many great ones for us! Of course, there
were many other lovely and colorful
Malaysian species to keep us busy
listening and looking at every stop and
venue. Your knowledge and skill at
locating species made the trip fruitful and
rewarding. Adam, your friend and our
driver, was also very helpful, not only at
getting us around safely and on schedule,
but also at spotting birds and other wildlife
and putting them in the spotting scope for
good looks. We felt safe and well cared for at each facility visited. The accommodations you
arranged were modest, clean, and comfortable. The food outings were interesting and tasty,
and you were wise to chose restaurants that offered both local specialties and more familiar
western-type foods for days when we didn't feel adventurous. We hope you continue to lead
avid birders and nature lovers like us and heartily recommend your services to anyone looking
for a good experience in Malaysia.

It was my second visit to KL, but the first time there was no time for birding. Luckily, now I did
have the opportunity to have one day off for birding. I found an excellent guide, Terence. The
planning went all very smoothly, and of course we had to set priorities. On Monday 17
September Terence picked me up at my hotel (perfectly on time despite the heavy traffic!)
and we took off to Kuala Selangor Nature Park and surroundings (mainly ricefields). Even
though the season was not the most perfect one, there was lots to see in a beautiful scenery.
Not only birds, but also lots of monkeys, playing in the trees. Nice to escape the city buzz for
one day. Besides a perfect birdwatcher, Terence has an open mind to chat about other
issues. So I also learned a lot about life in general in Malaysia. All in all, a perfect day. Thank
you so much Terence!!! Henri, Netherlands, September 2012

Terence is an excellent and knowledgeable birder as well as being a thoroughly nice man.
His hard work and expertise meant that I had a really great mornings birding. I would certainly
use his services next time Im in Malaysia. Jeremy, September 2012
My son and I really enjoyed our one-day birding trip to Fraser's Hill. I wish we would have had
more than one day as we were traveling to Sri Lanka. Terence was timely, courteous and
knowledgeable. We had a great day seeing over 80 bird species and added several life birds
to our lists. Our highlight sitings were the Black Laughingthrush, Lesser Shortwing and a Sultan
Tit. Thanks for a great day! Kenneth, USA / Indonesia, March 2013

I met up with Weng Chun, a bird guide out of KL, it was really good to be able to spend a few
hours in his company and Id recommend anyone who wants a guide for their time in
Malaysia to get in touch with him. We went to a nice forested area just out of KL (after a really
nice Roti Canai at a roadside stall) and connected with some great birds including 3 Blackthighed Falconets, Black-and-Yellow Broabill, Banded Kingfisher, Orange-bellied Flowerpecker
etc. Andy, Yorkshire (UK), March 2013

Your service was amazing and I already wish to come

back in a wetter season! Malaysian birding is always
spectacular as every birders may expect but I deeply
feel that Peninsular Malaysia is generally overlooked
by most international birders. Having said that I wish I
have the opportunity to go back and spend more
time on the continent in search of those feathered
gems hidden somewhere in the peninsula. Great
appreciation for Terence and excellent contact with
Weng Chun. Thank you very much to both of you.

Jean-Philippe, Canada, May 2013

I had an absolutely wonderful time in Frasers

Hill and am very grateful of the guiding
youve provided. I didnt expect to see so
many brilliant species on what was going to
be an introductory taster to Malaysian birds. I
will certainly come back (to see the
remaining two Broadbills, some more Pittas
and visit Taman Negara. Oliver, Bristol (UK),
