Introduction
The internet has been one of the advance technology ever invented,
it has been proven useful in terms of providing information, whether it
is academic or social issues. It also enables the people to communicate
with others within and outside the country. The internet also provides
entertainment for the people such as social media, music and video
sharing websites and various games has been created and will only be
played by the use of the internet.
According to Wikipedia, the internet is the global system of
interconnected computer networks that use the Internet Protocol suite
(TCP/IP) to link billions of devices worldwide. It is a network of network
that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and
government networks of local to global scope, linked by a broad array
of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The
internet carries an extensive range of information resources and
services, such as mobile apps including social media apps, the
interlinked hypertext documents and application of the World Wide
Web (WWW), electronic mail, multiplayer online games, telephony, and
peer to peer networks for file sharing.

The internet first made its connection in the country on March

29, 1994. On that date the Philippine Network Foundation (PHNet)
connected the country and its people to Sprint in the United States via
64kbit/s link.

There are various internet connections established such as DSL

(Digital Subscriber Line), wireless internet connection, mobile data
connection, etc. that enables the user to access the internet. Even
though there are various internet connections has been established,
the Philippines holds the title of having the worst internet service in
Asia according to an article published on the website of Forbes
magazine.

In connection to the internet, various websites has been

established. Websites such as Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter,
Instagram, and Yahoo are popular to the internet users. A certain
website can be known when the company or an individual tells you
how to get to their Web site by giving you the address of their home

page. From the home page, you can get to all the other pages on
their site which connects to other popular internet sites which shown
above.

This study aims to identify if there are any difference on the internet
speed using different internet connections such as DSL (Digital Subscriber
Line), wireless internet connection, in opening various webpage such as
Yahoo.
II.

Objectives of the Study

By the end of the study, the researchers expect to know and identify
the difference and most efficient of various internet connection using
mobile data, wireless connection such as Wi-Fi, and Digital Signal Line on
opening the webpage of Yahoo website.
The study aims to:
1. To identify the most efficient internet connection in terms of opening
the Yahoo website;
2. To determine the statistic and critical region;
3. To test whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis; and
4. To conclude whether the claim is to be rejected or supported at
alpha is equal to 0.05.
III.

Methodology

The purpose of the study is to identify the differences and most

efficient of the various internet connections amongst.
Research design
There are two types of research according to Susan E. Wyse
(2011), one is quantitative research and the other is qualitative
research. A qualitative research is primarily exploratory research. It is
used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and
motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps develop
ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. Qualitative
Research is also use to uncover trends in thought and opinions, and
dive deeper into the problem. Qualitative data collection methods vary
using unstructured or semi-structured techniques. Some common
methods include focus groups (group discussions), individual
interviews, and participation/observations. The sample size is typically
small, and respondents are selected to fulfill a given quota.

While quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by

way of generating numerical data or data that can be transformed into
useable statistics. It is used to quantify attitudes, opinions, behaviors,
and other defined variables and generalize results from a larger
sample population. Quantitative Research uses measurable data to
formulate facts and uncover patterns in research. Quantitative data
collection methods are much more structured than Qualitative data
collection methods. Quantitative data collection methods include
various forms of surveys online surveys, paper surveys, mobile
surveys and kiosk surveys, face-to-face interviews, telephone
interviews, longitudinal studies, website interceptors, online polls, and
systematic observations.
Therefore in this research a test that will be used is the One-way
ANOVA test which depends on a number of factors. It is applied when
data needs to be experimental. Analysis of variance is employed if
there is no access to statistical software resulting in computing ANOVA
by hand. It is simple to use and best suited for small samples. With
many experimental designs, the sample sizes have to be the same for
the various factor level combinations.
Data collection
The researchers will use the gathered secondary data of each
factor from the reliable sources and perform a minimum of 30 sample
sizes in 3 samples. After organizing the data gathered, it will justify the
objectives. The data will be analyzed, tabulated, and computed. The
results will be interpreted and discussed accordingly.
Statistical data
The researchers data used in this study from the results of each
sample would be collected, recorded and analyzed. The data gathered
should suffice to answer the objectives presented. To test the data
gathered, below are the following steps to perform. The results will be
analyzed based on the hypothesis testing that will be done. Following
are the formula that will be used to get the test statistic:

Whereas:

X = individual observation,

k = the number of treatments or independent comparison groups, and

N = total number of observations or total sample size.

Steps in conducting a One-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) test:

Step 1. Verify that the samples are random and independent, the
populations have normal distributions, and the population variances
are equal.
Step 2. Identify the claim. State the null and alternative hypotheses.
Step 3. Specify the level of significance.
Step 4. Determine the degrees of freedom for the numerator and the
denominator.
Step 5. Determine the critical value.
Step 6. Determine the rejection region.
Step 7. Find the test statistic and sketch the sampling distribution.

Step 8. Make a decision to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Step 9. Interpret the decision in the context of the original claim.

Data analysis
The data that where gathered among 30 samples on each
factors, mobile data connection, wireless internet connection (wi-fi),
and Ethernet connection regardless of which type of service provider,
will be examined. The results will be presented through computations
and tables.

Step 1: Verify that the samples are random and independent, the
populations have normal distributions, and the population variances
are equal.
The researchers assumed that the samples are random and
independent, and the population have normal distributions, and the
population variances are equal.

Step 2: Identify the claim. State the null and alternative hypotheses.
Ho: 1 = 2 = 3
Ha: at least one mean is different from the others. (Claim)
Step 3: Specify the level of significance
=0.05
Step 4: Determine the degrees of freedom for the numerator and the
denominator.

d . f .N =k 1

d . f .D =Nk

d . f .N =31

d . f .D =903

d . f .N =2

Step 5: Determine the critical value.

Given the following:
=0.05

d . f .D =87

d . f .N =2
d . f .D =87
The critical value is,
FO =3.51
Since there is no exact critical value, the researchers considered
the nearest value.

Step 6: Determine the rejection region.

The rejection region is

F>3.15

Step 7: Find the test statistic and sketch the sampling distribution.

Step 8: Make a decision to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Since F=0.349, the researchers fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Step 9: Interpret the decision in the context of the original claim.

There is not enough evidence at the 5% level of significance to
conclude that there is a difference in the internet speed of different
internet connections in opening Yahoo webpage.

Recommendation

The researchers recommend to the future researchers that if they

will conduct a study in determining the speed of opening various webpage
such as Yahoo, they must take into consideration the location, and other
variables that may affect the speed of different internet connections.
