Leaping into Literature: bringing music and literacy alive in

the classroom.

Session Description: Using a variety of childrens literature
and poetry as inspiration, participants will explore
incorporating it into the media of the Schulwerk. We will
also discuss
incorporating authentic
assessments into the
musical process. We
will be singing,
dancing, moving and
playing, so come ready
to bring the literature to
life! Bring soprano
recorders if you have
one!
Erika Bridge teaches K-6 in Okemos, MI, and has been
teaching for 10 years. She has her Masters in Choral
Conducting from Central Michigan University, and has
completed Level I, II, III, and Masterclass in Orff Schulwerk.
She is a regular local, state and national presenter for
AOSA, and will be publishing an article in the Michigan
Music Educators state journal on Authentic Assessments in
the Orff Process later in 2017. She recently completed her
Teacher Training through AOSA and will be teaching Level
I pedagogy in the summer of
2017.
