decimals. (https://www.brainpop.com/math/numbersandoperations/decimals/)

Students will use their Chrome books and login onto the
http://www.mathnook.com/math/bubbleburst.html. This website has an interactive decimal game.
This game correlates with CCSS: 5.NBT.B.7. Click on the bubble containing the answer to the decimal
addition problem before it floats off of the screen . The students may also choose to select the game.
The students will also be able to log on to the website www.thatquiz.org. This website provides the

EXPLANATION:
The teacher has created a presentation using Prezi.com. The presentation shows the students
the importance of vocabulary for this lesson. Students should use their Chrome Books and
visit the URL address https://prezi.com/mtqzqw6mt-se/decimals-check-them-out/. This is a
short presentation that has incorporated decimal vocabulary (adding, subtracting,
multiplying, and dividing steps and vocabulary). The students should watch the presentation.
After watching the presentation, the students will create their own vocabulary presentation.
The teacher will model how a presentation is prepared. Then the students will create their

ELABORATION:
The students will create their own arcade games. The teacher will pair the students with a
partner. The partners will work on the arcade game together. The students should type the
URL address www.classtools.net/mob/quiz_70/Decimals_8bPxb.htm This a decimal game the
teacher has created for the students to play and gather an understanding of the game. The
students will begin by creating a blueprint for their games. The blueprint is just 15 adding
and subtracting decimal problems. The students should check their final answers with a
calculator to check for accuracy. The students should type the URL address
http://www.classtools.net/. Once on the website, the teacher will model the directions step by
step from her Chrome Book. The students should wait on directions from their teacher. The
second game that is created is called the Dustbin game. This is an individual assignment.
This game is also on the website www.classtools.net. The students will great a matching
game based on the information provided in their blueprints. The teacher has modeled a
dustbin game. The students will type in the URL address www.classtools.net/educationgames-php/dustbin and play the teacher generated game. This game explains to the
students what is expected.
EVALUATION:
The teacher will assess frequently during the mini unit. The teacher will check the answers on
the blueprint to see if the students have mastered the adding, subtracting, multiplying, and
dividing decimals. The teacher has created a formative assessment to assess each student
on their participation and understanding. The formative assessment will evaluate how close
the student has come to meeting the objectives of the lesson.
