SP 20 Handbook On Masonry Design And Construction
We have started our design with the basic calculations of
hoop stresses and meridonal stresses of hemispherical dome and further we have moved through the various methods to find out the thickness of hemispherical dome. In which the most prominent method we have used is thrust line method. We have done various trial of dome thickness and simultaneously we have done the FEA of the different thickness of hemispherical dome. With the size & stresses constrain we have finally decided on 3m thickness at bottom of hemispherical dome. We have completed STAAD solid element analysis of dome and further we are working on two more FEA software Ansys and Abaqus to countercheck results and to reduce the thickness with the stresses in the permissible limit Tensile stresses we cant completely suppress from the structure, therefore we are providing tensile ring. As design of tensile ring is not a conventional design and tensile ring is one of the major component of structure of this dome. So, we cant design in so hurry. It require more research and time. We are following the various EURO code as IIT had suggested along with the various IS code. Major design EU codes we are following: I. II. III. IV. V. VI.

We have already selected the White Sandstone (Bansi
Pahadpur, Hindon, Dhaulpur, Rajasthan) from the dome
stone. Various testing are going on. As we have incorporated
previous test data conducted by various agencies in our analysis. So there will be minute change in the test reports and there will not be large variation in the analysis and results.
List of major work we have already completed and we are
attaching it the mail:
STAAD analysis of dome
Thrust line diagram with the excel sheet calculation Required foundation of the dome Selection of stone General arrangement drawing of dome DBR
List of further work we will submit it soon :
Final Analysis report after checking it on Ansys & Abaqus Detailed Material Testing Report Cross sectional detail of the dome Design of ring beam Sir Kindly look at the work that we have done so far. We are still working on it. Give us your important feedback on the work that we have done so far. We know its not the final drawing or analysis but we are positively working on it. We are not very far from the final conclusion. Kindly give us your comments on the work that we have done.
