Dear Sir/Maam:
Greetings!
We are pleased to inform you that we have chosen your local government unit (LGU) as one of the
internship sites for the Internship course that our 3rd year students of the Bachelor of Science in
Accountancy will be taking up this summer starting the second week of April. This is a 3-unit course with a
required minimum of 160 contact hours (20 days), and with the objective of giving the students the chance to
apply their theoretical knowledge and skills in accounting, bookkeeping, costing, taxation, and internal or
external auditing into practice.
This course is a collaborative undertaking by the employer and the university of providing our
accountancy students the necessary training and immersion to enhance their understanding of how
government establishments or private entities work in actual practice, and in the process enhancing their
knowledge, skills, and values.
From your end, it is expected that there will be a supervisor who will take charge of overall
supervision of the students work that is assigning their tasks and workload schedule in the
abovementioned areas of accountancy, orienting them of the entitys transactions, the corresponding duties
and responsibilities, and such other necessary information to get them working. The supervisor will orient the
students of his/her expectations, what constitutes excellent and poor performance, and finally rate the
students on their performance at the termination of the course.
The students, on the other hand, are expected to make a periodic report of the tasks, responsibilities,
learning experiences, training, and hours worked, and the overall impact of the course on their technical,
intellectual, physical and social development, as well as on their understanding of how the accountancy
program has prepared them for the work in actual practice.
The university, on its part, will monitor the students performance periodically to assess how course
has gone in its implementation, conduct on-site assessment on the students work and make corresponding
adjustments, if necessary.
If you should approve, then we will make a memorandum of agreement to serve as a learning
contract between the university and the LGU. The memorandum will also state the conditions of the work
assignments, the supervisor, learning goals, number of credits and methods of evaluating the students work.
Attached is a course outline for Internship for your perusal as well an evaluation form and
performance indicators.
Very truly yours,

SHEILA MAE L. POLIRAN, CPA, MSA
