This is the title essay of Michael Polignanos book TakingOurOwnSide, available for pre-order

Weallhavenaturalpartialities:forfamilyovernonkin,friendsoverstrangers,fellow
countrymenoverforeigners,racialbrethrenovermembersofotherraces.Philosophers
fromAristotletoCarlSchmitthaverecognizedthatthesepartialitiesaretheheartof
politicallife.
Butmostmoralistseyethesepartialitieswithsuspicion.Morallaws,theyclaim,applytoeveryone,regardlessofhisrelationshipto
us.Murderiswrong,whetherwekillastrangerorafriend.Fairnessrequiresthatwejudgeastrangerbythesamestandardsby
whichwejudgeafriend.Morallawsareuniversal,anduniversalitymeansthatwemustbeimpartialinallourmoraljudgments
anddealings.
ForthesakeofargumentIamwillingtograntthatmorallawsareuniversal.ButIdontthinkthatimpliesthatallofour
judgmentsanddealingsmustbeimpartial.Yes,whenwehaveacasebeforeajudgeorarbitrator,wewanthimtobeimpartial.
Butdoyouwantyourparentstobeimpartialwhendecidingwhethertosendyouortheclassvaledictoriantocollege?Themost
impartialjudgesarestrangerstous.Butwedonotspendallourtimewithstrangers,andkinship,friendship,andothernatural
bondsofaffectiondomatter.
Igrantthatitiswrongtomurderbothstrangersandfriends,butsurelyitisworsetomurderafriend.Wearesaddenedtohearof
themurderofachild.Butwearehorrifiedwhenwelearnthatthekillerwasthemother.Wereactthisway,becausewethinkthat
mothersshouldbepartialtotheirchildren,andacrimethatviolatessuchnaturalpartialitiesseemsparticularlybad.Amoral
philosophythatholdsallmurdersequallyheinous,regardlessofthesepartialities,issimplyabsurd.

Ilookatethicsthroughabiologicallens.Aproposedmoralprinciplecannotconflictwiththesurvivaloftherace.Principles
incompatiblewithsurvivaldieoutalongwiththeiradherents.Butthereisanotherconsiderationbeyondsurvival.Thereareplenty
ofbadideas,foolishprinciples,anddestructivelifestyleswhoseharmfallsfarshortofkillingtheirpractitioners,orimpedingtheir
reproductivesuccess.Theonlywaytoweedtheseoutistoadoptasonesstandardnotmereracialsurvival,butracialperfection.
Andfromthepointofviewofracialsurvivalandperfection,impartialityisfolly.
[5]Whyismystandardthesurvivalandflourishingoftherace,nottheindividual?Iam

notanindividualist,becauseindividualismignoresthefactthatweareallpartsand
productsofbiologicalgroups:breedingpopulations.Araceissimplyabreeding
populationthathastakenonadistinctidentitybecauseithasbeengeographically
isolated,endogamous,andsubjecttouniqueenvironmentalconditionsforasufficient
lengthoftime.
Iftheindividual,notthegroup,isthehighestvalue,thenundernoconditionisitright
forhimtoriskorsacrificehislifeforthegroup.ThismeansthattheSpartanswho
foughttothelastmanatThermopylaeweresuckers,butthemanwhowouldbuyafew
moreyearsforhimselfbycondemningthewholeracetoextinctionisaparagonof
virtue.Theindividualwholivesonlyforhimself,oblivioustotheracethatproducedhim
andendowedhimwiththetalentshecultivatesorsquanders,isameanlittlecreature,ungratefultothosewhocamebefore,
improvidentofthosewhowillcomeafter,ifany.Theisolatedindividualhasbutonelifeandonedeath.Buttheraciallyconscious
individualrealizesthatcountlessforebearsliveoninhim,andheseeksakindofimmortalityforhimselfandtheminhisown
posterity.
Butwhyisthestandardthesurvivalofonesownraceandnotthehumanraceingeneral?Iftheracesofmanlivedinharmony
andhadnoconflictsofinterest,thenofcourseweshouldthinkoftheinterestsofthewholehumanrace.Butwearealongway
fromthatpoint,andhaventgottenanycloserduringthepast50years,despitetheclaimsofthemassmedia.
Therealityis:theracesareatwarwithoneanother.Thedifferenthumanracesaredistinctsubspecies,withdistinct
temperamentsandtalents,someofwhichconflictdramatically.Itisanironbiologicallawthatwhentwodistinctsubspeciestryto
occupythesameecologicalnicheinthesamegeographicalregion,therewillbegroupconflict.
Thisconflictcanbeterminatedinthreeways.First,throughinterbreeding,whichhomogenizesthetwosubspeciesintoanew,
distinctbreed.Second,throughtheexterminationofonegroupbyother.Third,throughthedominationofonegroupbyanother.

Inthecaseofhumans,allthreenaturaloptionsarehighlyundesirable.Thefirsttwoinvolvethedestructionofoneormoreunique
racesshapedoverhundredsofthousandsofyearsofevolution.Thelastresultsinasystempronetoinstabilityoverthelongrun,
ashistoryrepeatedlydemonstrates.
Butsincewererationalcreatures,humansalsohaveafourthoption:voluntaryseparation.Thislastoptionpreservesracial
uniquenessandeliminatesinterracialcompetition,allowingeachracetoshapethecourseofitsownfuture.
Nomatterwhattheoutcome,toparaphraseThomasJeffersonaboutBlacksandWhitesinAmerica:tworaces,freeandequal,
cannotsharethesamecountry.Thisbiologicallawdoomsallexperimentsinmultiracialegalitarianism.Theonlypracticable
multiracialsocietieshavebeenhierarchicalsegregatedoneslikeVedicIndia,SouthAfrica,andtheAmericanSouth.Butintheend,
eventheseprovedunworkable.TheIndiancastesystemdidnotpreventracialadmixture,whileApartheidandSouthernslavery
andsegregationarelonggone.
[6]Everythingwehaveseensincedesegregationindicatesthefutilityofmultiracialism.Desegregation

hasnotcreatedtheharmoniousmixingoftheracesinfreedomandequality.Ithassimplyrobbed
Whitesoftheabilitytolegallyprotectourlivingspacesfromtheincursionsofotherraces.Whenthese
incursionsoccur,thereisracialtensionandconflict,whichterminatesonlywhenWhitesfleeandthe
neighborhoodbecomespredominantlyBlack,orMexican,orAsian.ThoseWhiteswhoremainareslowly
destroyedbymiscegenationoroutrightmurderbothformsofgenocide.Racialwarfarewillendonly
whengroupsseparatefromoneanother,orwhenthegroupsselfdestructduetomiscegenation,orone
groupexterminatestheothers,oronegroupdominatesandsegregatesitselffromtheothers.
Andmakenomistake:Americaisinastateofracialwar.Itisnolessaracewarbecause,sofar,
Whitesarenotfightingbackbutareinfullretreat.Theyretreatfromneighborhoodtoneighborhood,as
oneafteranotherreachesthetippingpointandbecomesunlivableforWhites.Theyretreatfromcities
tosuburbs,fromsuburbstoexurbs,fromstateslikeCaliforniatostateslikeIdahoandMontana.Butat
acertainpoint,therewillbenoplacelefttohide.Thewholenationwillreachthetippingpoint,and
Whiteswillfinallyhavetostandandfightforoursurvival.
Ihopethatwestandandfightwhilewearestillmorethan60%ofthepopulation.Ouroddsofwinningwouldbealothigherthan
ifwewaituntilournumbersslipbelow50%.
Inthemidstofaracewar,therecanbenogreaterfollythanimpartiality,thanthepiousrotthatthereisonlyonerace,the
humanrace.RobertFrostoncebrilliantlydescribedaliberalasamanwhowillnottakehisownsideinafight.Inafighttothe

death,suchapolicyissuicide.
Ineverytransactionbetweenapartialmanandanimpartialman,theimpartialmanisatadisadvantage.Whentheimpartialman
hasabenefittoconfer,thepartialmanappealstotheothersimpartialityandoftenwalksoffwiththeprize.Butwhenthe
impartialmanneedssomethingfromthepartialman,hisappealstoimpartialityfallondeafears.Associalinteractionsmultiply,so
dothepartialmansadvantagesattheexpenseoftheimpartialman.(TheessenceoftheJewishstrategyofdominanceisto
practiceruthlesspartialitywhileurgingtheirvictimstobefreeofprejudiceandpartiality.)
Oncetheimpartialmanhasnothinglefttobargainwith,oncehehasbeenreducedtopowerlessnessandpenury,towhatwillhe
appealtopreservehislifeandfreedom?Impartiality?Universalnotionsoffreedomandjusticeandrights?Thesearejustpleading
wordsunlessonehasthepowertoforceotherstorespectthem.Buttheimpartialmanhasbargainedallhispoweraway.Pleading
alonewillnotpreventhimfrombeingreducedtoaslaveoracorpse,andthatiswhatweWhiteswillbecomeunlesswestart
takingourownside,andquickly.
