Reaction Paper

My personal reaction about the film Blackfish is that the film is an eye opener for me. It taught
me or shows me whats really going on behind the curtains of every aquatic show. It never
crosses my mind that such things happened to dolphins and whales or even to the trainers, not
until I have watched the film. It makes me aware of the situations of the creatures that have been
kept in captivity for such a long time. The aquatic parks and the zoo that made revenues out of
the animals they captured and kept in one place. The film taught me a lot; it widens my
understandings and learnings about killer whales or Orca. It helps me unlock some of the
emotions that I have never felt before for animals, like feeling sorry for them and the urge of
wanting to help them to be free from the prisons they are right now.
The film is remarkable but there is a part of the film that did touch me. The part where they
separated the mother whale from her baby whale. I never thought that whales can be very
emotional like humans, that being separated from their loves ones can bring burdens and
emotional stress to them also. Seeing the mother whale crying in the side of the pool and making
a sound like looking for her baby is very heart breaking. They have no difference from humans
too. They have a life and they have their own environment where they really belong. They
belong to the wild so they should be in the wild, where they can live freely and do what they
naturally do. This creatures doesnt harm people, they dont disturb humans. In fact, we humans
are the one disturbing them and worst part is some of us are destroying them instead of
protecting them. Most of us are so nave and ignorant how beautiful this creatures are to be
destroyed, how wonderful does it feels watching a bunch of whales swimming all together in the
ocean. Playing and just living the life like they should be. I am saying this because I personally
experienced it first hand when we had our dolphin watching in Balicasag Bohol. The experience
is priceless and unforgettable and I am hoping that more people will experience the same thing
too, but this is only possible if we will protect these creatures instead of destroying them.
And I have come to realized that we should value every living thing that surrounds us whether
its an animal or trees. Everything must be valued and be protected. And that people need to see
that whale doesnt exist in this world to entertain humans but to be guardians of the oceans.
