After viewing several Utopian societies (there are examples of actual Utopian societies that were created that can be found at http://www.ushistory.org/us/26b.asp begin work on your own Utopia. Include the following components in the online description of your ideal society. There is a check list for each component presented on your blog site. Check the rubric for additional details on the expectations for the project. 1. Name of Your Utopian Society: Choose a creative and appropriate name to represent your new society. Explain your choice in a way that makes the reasons for the name clear. Your reasoning will show in your motto and declaration. How will the government of this utopia be structured? How will your utopia make decisions? No dictatorships allowed. http://www.kidcyber.com.au/topics/govtforms.htm 2. Declaration of Independence: Write a brief statement (23 paragraphs) describing the reasons for your formation of your utopian society. In other words, what specifically dont you like about current society that you would like to change? Why do you feel the need to form a more perfect society? Refer to our U.S. Declaration of Independence for ideas at: http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/declaration.html. 3. Bill of Rights: Our country developed a list of rules that are known as the Bill of Rights. It is part of our Constitution. Your society needs to create a Bill of Rights that will apply to all community members. Provide a rationale for each Right you will be granting. Make sure that you are creating a Bill of Rights that support the main theme and ideas of your society. As a reference here are basic laws of Germany: http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/CONST-DE.asp Bill of Rights: http://www.ushistory.org/documents/amendments.htm 4. Utopian Flag: What would symbolize your utopia? Various countries flags have stripes, crosses, stars, bars, animals, and/or religious symbols. Use the GIMP program to create your design. If you choose to use an animal on your flag make sure that you understand what different animals symbolize. http://www.greatdreams.com/animals.htm 5. Welcome Letter: Write a persuasive letter (welcome to our home) to convince people as to why travel to or take a look at your utopia. It will be in the form of welcoming someone to your society. This will be placed on the opening/home page of your blog to encourage people to join your Utopia. 6. Society Event: Create an event that would be held in your society. This could be an athletic event, celebration of the founders, festival celebrating something specific to your society, or even a holiday celebration like your version of the 4th of July. You create it and then allow for one of the pages of your blog to have the event details. An example would be the Apple Tree Society having a Cider Festival.

This ad should be complete with pictures that are representative of life in your utopia, maybe your motto or catchy phrase, and include a QRScan for other students to access your blog. QRScan will be created using a QR generator that will be demonstrated in class. This will be printed on a color printer so be creative market your society!
