Coating system POLYESTER

For facades and external roofs in normal
environments
FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

Polyester is the most common coating system on the

market for thin plate. Polyester is recommended for all
types of products for buildings in normal environments.

Polyester provides good protection against corrosion.

The technical useful life is longer than the aesthetic
one, but is in principle influenced by the same factors.
Polyester, which is a 25 m thin-coat system, offers
very good protection against corrosion on surfaces
not exposed to wear and tear or being worked on.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Polyester is a thin layer type coating for indoor and
outdoor use. The coating has a friction-reinforced surface, and is well suited to external roofs and facades
in normal environments. Polyester is a finishing paint
based on a polyester bonding agent with high dry
matter content. The high dry matter content makes
the coating very economical and reliability of
production rate.

COLD WEATHER WORKING

The temperature of the plate must not go below
+10C. At lower temperatures, there is a risk of microcracks occuring in the paint coat.

BASE MATERIAL
Polyester is coated on to both hot-galvanised steel
and aluminium, and on to cold-rolled steel for industrial purposes.

PRE-TREATMENT
Cleaning and pre-treatment in several steps for best
adhesion, and chromating which provides greater protection against corrosion.

DURABILITY OF COLOUR
Polyester colour durability is good. The aesthetic useful life is influenced by many factors, e.g. environmental effect of chemical fall-out, the area of use (roof
or facade), structural factors in the form of rain shadow,
weather direction, design and workmanship, maintenance etc. Polyester has good workability, very good
surface hardness giving a good dirt-repellent quality.
The aesthetic useful life is 10 to 15 years in a normal
environment.

Coating system PVF2

For facades where there is a high requirement
for colour durability
FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

PVF2 coating system is recommended for facades,

and in certain cases roofs, in normal environments
where a high priority is placed on colour retention and
dirt repellent properties.

PVF2 provides excellent protection against corrosion.

The technical useful life is longer than the aesthetic
one, but is in principle influenced by the same factors.
The thickness of the paint coat is significant for
protection against corrosion. Damage caused by
scratching during assembly and processing work,
may occur because of the thin coat system. PVF2 can
therefore be finished off with clear lacquer, which
increases the resistance to corrosion and the flexibility
of the paint layer itself, see data sheet for Clear
Lacquer.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
PVF2 is a thin layer coating for outdoor use. The
coating has a friction-reinforced surface, and is well
suited to facades and roofs where a high priority is
placed on dirt-repellent properties and retention of
lustre. PVF2 is a finishing paint based on a mixture of
fluorpolymer and acrylic resin with mixture at least 70/
30%.

BASE MATERIAL
PVF2 is coated on to hot-galvanised steel, stainless
steel and aluminium.

PRE-TREATMENT

Coating system PROTECT

For facades with high anti-corrosive protection
requirements
FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

Protect is used on the same surfaces as PVF2, but

where a higher resistance to corrosion and scratching
is required.

Protect protects well against corrosion. The technical

useful life is longer than the aesthetic one, but is in
principle influenced by the same factors. The
thickness of the paint layer is however significant for
protection against corrosion. A thicker primer coat under the surface coat of PVF2 minimises the risk of
damage from scratching and damage from working
which can occur with a thin coating system.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Protect is a PVF2 coating, but has a backing of thick
coat primer which is three times thicker than for
ordinary PVF2. On the back the primer is also reinforced with a thicker layer to increase resistance to
corrosion. Protect gives a better and thicker backing
for the surface coating on both front and back.

BASE MATERIAL

COLD WEATHER WORKING

The temperature of the plate must not go below
+10C. At lower temperatures there is a risk of microcracks occuring in the paint layer.

Protect is coated on to hot-galvanised steel. The minimum quantity is 500 rmtrs per dimension.

Coating system SHINE

For a new dimension on building plate
FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

Shine is used on facades, where the aim is to achieve

an exclusive copper or silver-coloured shot metal surface over the base colour. Shine gives the surface a
three-dimensional depth and an interplay between the
base colour and the copper or silver tone. Shine is
used for facades with high aesthetic requirements,
while at the same time the surface acquires greater
flexibility in working it, thanks to the third layer of
pigmented clear lacquer.

Shine provides excellent protection against corrosion.

The technical useful life is longer than the aesthetic
one, but is in principle influenced by the same factors.
The thickness of the paint coat is nevertheless
significant for protection against corrosion. With a
thicker paint coat, the risks of damage from scratches
and working on the material which can occur with a
thin coat system are minimised.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Shine is a pigmented coat which seals the surface
coat underneath. The coating is of thin layer type, and
is partially transparent so as to give varying colour
effects with the paint layer underneath. Shine has no
friction-reinforced surface to give better surface hardness for dirt-repellent properties and greater flexibility
than comparable coating systems of thin layer type.

BASE MATERIAL
Shine is applied as an additional layer on Gasell Profil
standard PVF2 system and base material hot-galvanised steel.

COLD WEATHER WORKING

The temperature of the plate must not go below + 5C.
At lower temperatures, there is a risk of micro-cracks
occuring in the paint coat.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

Clear Lacquer is used on facades, where a high

colour durability
FIELD OF APPLICATION

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

GP 2000 is a coating system for Bold Colours and is

recommended where there is a need for sharply
defined, intensive colours with high pigmentation and
high dirt-repellent quality. Suitable for facades in all
environments.

GP 2000 has very good corrosion protection. The

technical useful life is longer than the aesthetic one,
but is in principle influenced by the same factors. GP
2000, which is one of the thicker thin-coat systems,
25 40 m, depending on colour, offers very good
protection against corrosion on surfaces not exposed
to wear and tear or being worked on.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

GP 2000 is a thin layer type coating up to 40 m for

outdoor use. The coating has no friction-reinforced
surface, and is therefore well suited to facades where
the requirement is for high dirt-repellent properties
and retention of lustre. GP 2000 is a finishing paint
based on a polyurethane bonding agent. It can be
coated with layer thickness up to 40 m so as to
produce sharp colours, without sacrificing the quality
of the paint coats.

COLD WEATHER WORKING

The temperature of the plate must not go below 0C.

At lower temperatures, there is a risk of micro-cracks
occuring.

BASE MATERIAL
GP 2000 is coated on to hot-galvanised steel.

Coating system PRIMER COAT

For priming of flat plate when painting on site
FIELD OF APPLICATION
Coating system for painting of flat sheet covered roof
surfaces. The system is specially adapted for situations where the plate is to be painted in situ.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The system has polyester-based primer on the upper
side in yellow colour, which functions as a primer coat
for the air-dried paint which is applied on site. The
reverse side is coated with a grey reverse side paint.

BASE MATERIAL
The base paint is coated on to hot-galvanised APX
quality steel, with zinc class Z350. Minimum quantity
500 rmtrs per dimension.

PRE-TREATMENT

SUITABILITY FOR PAINTING

Note that painting over should be done within 14
days after assembly, but at the very latest within 6
months (cleaning necessary for this). Do not
leave unpainted over the winter period. Durability
and adhesion of the top coat must be checked in
each individual case, and the paint suppliers
instructions must be followed. Weather-resistance
and adhesion depend on the paint and the method
of on-the-spot working. Gasell Profil accepts no
responsibility for these painting steps with the top
coat, as this is the responsibility of the painting
contractor.

TOUCH-UP PAINTING AND

RE-PAINTING

Cleaning and pre-treatment in several steps for best

adhesion and a chromating which gives reinforced
protection against corrosion.

The paint manufacturer has different types of systems

for re-painting. For further information separate
brochures are needed, which deal with re-painting
and maintenance.

COLD WEATHER WORKING

HANDLING AND STORAGE

The temperature of the plate should not fall below

+10C. Because of the thin coat of paint, micro-cracks
can occur in the primer. This is of no significance
here, provided that painting is done as soon as
possible after folding or cutting.

Storage of the material should be indoors, as it is

sensitive to dampness. For touch-up painting and
assembly all damages caused by scratches
immediate steps must be taken to clean up and apply
touch-up painting.
