4. Do you think it is effective why? Why not?

Translation is an arduous job that mortifies you, puts you in a state of despair
times, but also an enriching and indispensable work, that demands honesty
and modesty in addition to reading comprehension ability, the knowledge of
specialized subjects derived from specialized training and a wide cultural
background, and the globalvision of a cross cultural and interlingual
communication , it is a must to learn how to handle the strategic and tactical
tools for a good translating performance. We have to lear in mind a virtue of a
good translator is what I have called Contextualized intvition, i.e the ability
to find the nearest common sense interpretation of the not found element
withing its context according to Trics (1995): . The transfer process is a
difficult and complex approach mechanism, one in which one must make use of
all ones intellectual capacits intvition and skill.
2. How is it different to more stand ard translation activities:
Crystal (1998) stated that translators should work to ensure a result that
sounds as natural as possible. A translator has a great responsibility on
his/her shoulder to devevy better
understanding among people. The
translation is helpful hor acsiquition because, it uses authentic
materials,
interactive, learner-centered and promotes learner autonomy (Mahmoud 2006).
The teacher is expected to have translators skills, linguistic exploration, and
good command of the two languages Newmark (1981) highlights the following
skills for students:

Good Knowledge of cultural background.


Master the text being translated (context).
Good reading knowledge.

Translation is a difficult skill which must be done in order to be productive and


rewarding.
Learners, teachers have to take into account meaning but other issves (forms,
register, style, idiom). I know that is time sonsumming and we need a
sophisticated knowledge of L1 and L2. Translation activities require accuracy,
clarity, flexibility it trains the reader to search (flexibilty) for the most
appropriate words (accuracy) to convey what is meant (cilarity).
It is recommendit to avoid activities which require to use their L1

In what way do you think the text has been tampered with in translation?
It is easy to think of convincing reasons why native speakers of English have a
lot of advantages as language teachers many non-native speakershave a
sophisticated knowledge of L2, a king of knowledge which native speakers can
only with special training . All non- native speaker teachers are language
leaners themselves. It means that teacher have experienced difficulties. Also
arrors have their causes in the L1. Knowledge of the L1 is a very importat tool

for the teachers, in a position to know which aspects of the language to


concentrate on. We have to keep in mind. That translation develops three
qualities, which are essential to language learning, which are essential to
language learning: accuracy, clarity, flexibility, training to learner to seach for
the most appropriate words to convey what is meant.
Translation eneable us to explore the potential of both languages- their
strengths and weaknesess.
According to newmark:
In the elementary stages translation from L1 to L2 may be useful as a from of
control and consolidation of basic grammar and vocabulary. In the middle
stages, translation from L2 to L1 words and clauses may be useful in dealing
whit errors ; therefore interference interlanguage or unconscious translation
can be illuminated by back translation, as an aid in the production of creative
discours e or text.
I think that a translation exercise has to be well-prepared. The prime objective
is not to learn or theach new words, but to consolidate vocabulary and to clarify
sense relations between words in meaningful context, and draw attention to
cross-linguistic problems.
