Summer Course

On

Simulation Techniques
Using
PSIM & PSCAD Software
13th to 18th June 2011
(Dates subject to change due to BPUT Semester Exams)

ORGANIZED BY
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
OBJECTIVE
PSIM is a computer program designed to simulate
analog electronic circuits. Integrated circuits, unlike
board-level designs composed of discrete parts, are
impossible to breadboard before manufacture. Further,
the high costs of photolithographic masks and other
manufacturing prerequisites make it essential to design
the circuit to be as close to perfect as possible before
the integrated circuit is first built. Simulating the circuit
with PSIM is the industry-standard way to verify circuit
operation at the transistor level before committing to
manufacturing an integrated circuit.
Hence it is important for every researcher, Designer in
the area of Electrical, electronic & computer Science to
understand the art of using these software to simulate
and verify the required output of a analog , digital or
Mixed type circuit before the actual fabrication is done.
These tools can also be effectibly utilsed to verify any
circuit analysis obtained from analytical method. This
course will give a comprhensive knowledge to simulate
any circuit containing analog & digital devices and
hence to study different analysis. It provides powerful
simulation environment for the Power Electronics &
Drive System.
The second part of the course is to make the
participants familiar with PSCAD, Power System
Simulation Software. It is the professionals choice for
transient simulation. It enables the user to schematically
construct a circuit run a simulation analyze the results

and manage the data in completely integrated graphical

environment.
